Losing weight and inches but still not seeing it...
Hey guys, so basically I started really working out and eating right February 1st. When I started I was 6'2 weighing in at 260lbs with a 42 inch waist. Currently, almost 4 months later, I am 220lbs with a 36 inch waist. Sounds like a big difference right? I can hardly tell when I look in the mirror. I feel like it looks like I lost 15-20 pounds, when I actually doubled that. I was thinking that maybe I lost alot of muscle, but really doubt it considering i've been very conscious of my nutrition and exercising in order to minimize muscle loss. All of my lifts have gone up a good amount, and my muscles really don't appear smaller to me. Is there an awkward bodyfat % stage where you really start to see the difference? I've heard that it starts becoming really noticeable at a certain point, but I can't remember....I know I know, I just need to be patient and keep working at it, and what happens happens. I'm just kind of curious if there is a certain point when i'll start to see my results getting more noticeable. Summer is close, if not here, and i'm not ready for it yet. Guess I should have started back in January...haha

Did you take pictures? Because sometimes, it is very hard to see the difference in the mirror since you see yourself everyday.

This is so true, I can hardly notice in the mirror, but when i put my March pictures next to my most recent pictures I can instantly see the 20 lbs of weight loss. If you haven't started taking pictures, you should.

I took some pictures when I was at around 245 pounds. When I look at those I def think that I look smaller now, but can't see that much of a difference. I guess I should take new pics so I can compare them side by side...

Don't forget your 6'2. If you lose 20 pounds you won't notice it as much as someone who's 5'5.
But .. if you lost 6" on your waist ... changes ARE visible. It's just that they are happening soo slowly it's hard to notice w/o pics. Take pics every month or so. It really helps.
When I look at my arms in the mirror, I don't really see/notice that much of a difference from before ... and yet when I compare the 2 pics the difference is huge ...

as said above I think YOU'RE not noticing your fat loss because:
a) you see yourself on a day-to-day basis
b) you're still overweight so you still see yourself as fat. It's all just in your mind
Also as said above pics are the best way to go.....
Try taking one topless and another one with the same shirt as your last pic so you can see how much baggier the top is on you now...
Trust me with 40lb less weight and a 6" inch waist difference you're a hell of a lot smaller!!!!!!!!!
P.s. GREAT WORK AND KEEP IT UP

Compare pics. The pant size difference alone should be enough proof! Gratz!

patience
GP,
I know what your going through exactly. I was dropping lbs and inches left and right but it never seemed to "look" like I was getting anywhere. I decided not to let it get to me and just kept truckin along. Then all of a sudden one month I happen to stop and look in the mirror and BAM, there it was. That was about around the lower 15% body fat for me. And I agree with everyone else, pictures pictures pictures! They are in my opionion the BEST motivational tool in your arsenal. Sometimes when I don't think I'm getting the results I want, or I don't feel like going to the gym. or doing that 1 hour of cardio, I go back and look at my pictures. 5 min later my ass is out the door and headed to the gym.
When you think your not getting anywhere, get ready, cuz usually right around the corner is what your looking for.

I weighed 264lbs and it took me losing almost 50# before many people started to notice. My face needed to thin out some.
How many calories have you been eating daily?
You could have lost weight too fast and your loss to date doesn't look too bad because it is offset by some "newbie" mass gains. I lost weight fast before finding this site, so I think since I was holding on to the fat early on is why it took so long for people to notice my loss.
