Guy hired me 6 months ago to work over the summer, now he left company, wtf?!

I interviewed at a restaurant over March, and talked to a manager and was basically given the job, and told to call him this summer to find out when my waiter training would start. So I call today and it turns out the guy who hired me is no longer working there, and the woman who answered had no idea who i even was. Im gonna call back monday when the store manager is in, but am i screwed? I kind of arranged my summer around working at this place, so im going to flip out if the manager doesn't hire me at this point.

still going, but it doesn't start until the end of august, which means i have 3 months of nothing unless i get a job, and i really need a job. It's very very hard finding a place to hire you for only 3 months though.

Well if someone promises you something that you want.. you always need to get it in writing. See what happened? You didn't and now you are f*cked.

The same kind of thing happened to me where I worked. I asked for a special schedule (not one they normally do). I was promised by my boss. A week before it was to take effect, my boss walked off the job... I had nothing in writing. I was forced to quit.

well experiencing things is the best way to learn, so now I know to get even low level job offers in writing. Im hoping the manager will still hire me however though, my parents know the guy because they eat there all the time, so i'll bring that up if i must. I need a friggin job though, i even have a Bachelor's degree now and i still can't find a damn summer job hahah. how sad is that?
