Describe the Differences between American style, Lucha Libre, and Japanese Style....
What are the differences in these styles?
I know the japanese Style wrestling varies alot of there fights look more like catch as catch can wrestling and actually fights, plus they really hit each other like a fight.
can someone go in detail about what separates them style wise?

As far as the action or the storytelling?
In terms of storytelling,
American tends to be more focused on dramatic, personal, everyday issues that you may (or may not, unless you like to have sex with dead cheerleaders) be able to relate to.
Lucha libre typically tells stories of classic good vs. evil based on folklore and legend.
Japanese tends to be more competitive and emphasizes fighting spirit. Who the better man is. Things like that.
That's just the way I see it, at least.

What makes puroresu different from the lucha libre style in Mexico and the American style is the fact that it is performed in more realistic manner. The Japanese portray it as a legitimate sports struggle. There is no outside interference, run-ins, or referees conveniently looking the other way. Blatant cheating draws boos from the audience, no matter how popular the wrestler. Almost every match ends clean, with no cheating and no disqualification.
Puroresu also uses very complex submission maneuvers as well as high-flying aerial attacks. Pro-wrestlers in Japan are also famous for "working stiff," i.e. not pulling their punches and kicks. Puroresu also differs from American pro wrestling in that the wrestlers are treated more like legitimate athletes than sports entertainers. During interviews, puroresu stars tend to speak normally rather than use catchphrases and other mannerisms associated with their gimmicks.
In Lucha Libre, there are rapid sequences of holds and moves, as well as spectacular high-flying moves, many of which have been adopted north of the border.

thanks guys reps to both!
What style do you enjoy the most? or do you like a combination? Sometimes the american story telling gets a bit far fetched and corny at times.

Oh, no question about it, puroresu hands down. Reminds me a lot of Ring Of Honor.

Japanese promotions tend to have a more physical "stiff" style that is more grounded in realism, while Lucha Libre is more fast paced, high flying and sometimes requires a greater "suspension of disbelief" when it comes to certain aspects, like the "guy gets slapped in the back and runs full speed into the ropes" spots.

Personally I prefer Japanese. I love British chain wrestling too. I don't know much of it at all but stuff from guys like Doug Williams and Nigel McGuinness has me really interested in it.

Yeah his students in Shooto? I haven't seen videos of that yet. I've only seen his work in New Japan and UWF but I've read about his impact on the early days of MMA. Sayama was one of the best in professional wrestling, no doubt. It's amazing how good he was considering his limited time in the business.

Lucha is kinda weird if you're not used to it. The way they execute and sell certain moves, and even just the way they move around, in Mexico is different than American style. For some reason when I watch Lucha Libre on spanish channels it seems like most of the moves look "softer" than I'm used to seeing.

Very true. I for one can't get into too much lucha libre but I'm a big mark for men like El Santo, Das Caras and Mistico. Eddy Guerrero and Art Barr were part of one of my all time favorite matches too, their infamous Hair vs. Mask match. Aside from that I find it a little too high spotty and the costumes kind of turn me off for some reason.
