Before somebody cries for me to be banned, this isn't racist, this isn't anti-immigration. All this is, is a war vet who thinks that if you want to win support for your cause, and you want to appear patriotic, then fly the flag right!

#1 - If you are going to pose for a pic, then how about knowing that the stars go on the left?!?

#2 - If you want to "immigrate" to the United States of America then how about knowing the the US flag is flown above the other flags, not tied to other flags?!?

Show a little knowledge and care for the symbol of the country you want to become a part of, and maybe I'll be more likely to listen to your side. Until then, negs to everybody in this picture!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.

I think the flag is a sacred symbol of our country and should be respected as such. I think flag burning should be a punishable offence, and defacing the flag, like shown above should be highly discouraged.

I'm with you on this one, I dont believe this country is harsh enough or repsects itself enough to protect its national symbol.

On a differnt note, if they want to be IMMIGRANTS, shouldn't they leave their old country and come to our, why do they tie the flags? This isn't some sort of joint governmental mass movement. Immigration is leaving your old country and joining a new... yes?

I agree that people living in a country should show care for symbols of that country if they want to be apart of it. Not just in the USA, but any country across the world for that matter!

I agree and may I add some other IMPORTANT points about the flag....

It should NEVER EVER EVER touch the ground.

The ONLY acceptable reason for burning a flag is to retire it.

If you have a US flag and don't know what to do with it, bring it to your local VFW and they will make sure it is treated with the proper care.

Yeah I totally understand. If I recall there are also other rules to caring for a flag like: If you're going to have it fly outside your house, you have to bring it inside at night. Not sure about this though, but each country has specific rules for flags and they should be respected.

yes and no.... yes it means that you leave your old country to embrace the culture and values of your new nation and be part of it, but it doesnt mean that you have forget where you came from, your tradition, culture, or values. As well as show/teach people about your previous country's culture so that they can also understand it and maybe learn something about it (thats part of being a multi-cultural Nation like the US or Australia). Well thats my opinion.

EDIT: by the way, im Chilean-Australian. I was born in Chile and have now lived in Aus for 7 years and recently also became an Australian citizen, i now have dual-citizenship.

It just goes to show that this is why ILLEGAL people are ILLEGAL. One of the byproducts of having ILLEGALS freely take over your country is the education or lack of education levels. Many of the people who come here ILLEGALLY from mexico are dumb by mexican standards. Now, if these people were LEGAL, at least we can assure that they are smart enough to get through some paper work.

I have seen 2 explanations for this. The first is that when you wear a flag, the stars are supposed to be nearer to your heart than the stripes, so you use a reversed flag on your right arm to make the stars closer to your heart the second being because the flag is a symbolic one there to show that the stars (end tied to the pole) are moving forward into battle, not back in retreat.
