How many of you knew Cordyceps were fungi?
How many of you knew Cordyceps were fungi? To be honest I had no idea. I was in my mold, mildew, mushrooms, and man class today (don't ask why i'm taking it, its the most boring class in the world taught by an 80-year old monotone man lol) and it was actually kind of interesting today as we were talking about some species of cordyceps. I had never really read the ingredient labels of products such as Cordygen5 but I had read lots of good feedback on it and was going to look into it and maybe use it during football season. I was shocked when I turned the page in my book to find out cordyceps were a fungus and as I read over the positive feedback its amazing to see how fungi can have such an effect. If you ask the average person what they think of when they think of fungus, they'll probably said bread mold or mildew and immediately think of something non-beneficial, but its really cool to see some of the other effects fungi have on us. If anyone from millenium sports or any other company who uses cordyceps in their products is around, I'd be really interested to see how you guys get the specific species of cordyceps. Do you guy order it or actually grow it in a lab or...?
Edit: err maybe this belongs in the supplement science section? Don't know for sure

MMM shrooms. I love Cordyceps. As far as I know, it either grows on the back of Chinese caterpillars, or in a lab on soybeans and grains from cultures. Most of the Cordy-products available are probably grown in a controlled environment. Either way, they seem to be very beneficial for endurance. I think Millenium Sports has a very good idea including this in their lineup. Beta-Alanine and Cordyceps = great combo for endurance IMO.

Yeah, I remember reading about Cordyceps about ten years ago in a book by Andrew Weil. I think Cordyceps is basically like taking fungi and caterpillar.

Mycology is some amazing stuff. When I went to learn more about psychoactive mushrooms, I was draw in for years with mycology and even began hunting them (both active and inactive species).
Very, very interesting stuff. Anyone who says that it's boring needs to get their doctor to fill them a prescription for whatever condition has afflicted them!! jk (yes nerd)
