France seem to hate Americans, British, well everyone
Beautiful Beautiful City. I love everything about the way it looks. However, i was hughly disappointed by the Paris people. They are extremely arrogant, humorless, rude, depressed looking and very unhelpful. I am scottish and while i stayed at the Hilton next to the tower i brefriended loads of Americans, and other people from European countries and they all said the same.
What is up with the french? why do they treat tourists like this when without us they would be nothing. At supermarkets there is no order, the locals jump the que, push you out the way (don't even apologise), and you ask anyone for help and they get mad. I touched someone in shoulder and said hey man could you help me out a sec, and he went crazy and said do not touch me, do not touch my shirt, i will call the police. So i squared upto him and he cowarded off.
Dunno about France as a whole, but your culture is the world's worst and we all hate you.
but, i must say AMERICANS, no matter how dumb your stereotype may be i fing love the friendliness and outgoing nature of the people.
and yeah u never see any american cars about. All you ever see is renault and peugeot. They only buy their own.

i've been to france quite a few times and i have to agree that the northern french are arseholes.
but if you visit southern france or the loire valley region (central), the people are very friendly and welcoming.

I know the scots and enlglish have an historic dislike for each other. but when i hear an english voice in Paris you feel like one, and both feel the same way about the arrogance of the culture.
and btw, taxi from bus station to eiffel tower, 10 min walk, cost 40 euro.

Saying all French people are arrogant is just like saying all Americans are "dumb" which is asinine. Every country has it's arrogant jerks, but I'm sure there are a ton of helpful, friendly people in France.

The Parisians have a reputation for being rude and arrogant but the french people from the coutryside and the coastal areas have a reputation for being very nice and very pleasant.

QFT
Every country has its groups of people. Some people might claim that New York is full of rude people, while the country areas such as Tennessee are very friendly.
lol just saw Lecter used New York as an example too

I'm French Canadian so I have some experience in dealing with the French.
1. It's a well known fact that Parisians are total *******s. They are a country of their own and don't really represent the rest of France.
2. Queing does NOT, repeat, NOT exist in France. You gotta push ahead like the others do. If you see someone skipping the line, either tell them or skip it yourself. It's generally just not part of the culture. Queing is a very anglo-saxon thing. We do it in North America because of the British (who just loooove lines) and Germans are fans of them too. Try going to Italy, France or Egypt=total chaos.
3. The French are generally somewhat arrogant. It's just their nature to be condesending sometimes. But again, Parisians are really different. It's like comparing the friendliness of New-Yorkers to that of a tiny town in the American Mid-West. Can you really compare the two? Of course not.

LISTEN, I KNOW all about stereotypes, but this stereotype is one that is a REAL ONE. When a statistical high percentage of a region higher than 80% of the people confirm to that stereotype you have a statistical significent likelihood.
and i banged americans into this thread as alot of them dislike us english speakers because of our superior culture. Which is a shame because if we didn't spend our Pounds/Dollars in the city it would goto ****.
