The LION of Lebanon, Samir Bannout

It was dusty.
"Of course a secondhand shop is gonna be dusty," I thought.
Walking through "Second Chance" resale shop wasn't my choice, I had community service to do. Just one more day and it was over. I could get on with training when I wasn't at my jobs, instead of hanging up donated clothes, rearranging chipped wedding plates from the Civil War era, and... piling picture frames. That was what I was doing, stacking dusty frames on dusty shelves that some Randalls had probably donated as it went out of business-
When I saw it.

I saw a leg poking out from behind yet another giant, framed poster of some dude praying over his son with some Scripture verse in the corner. When I say leg, I mean a photo of a leg, and that leg looked like it had done a hack squat or two in its career. Another person probably would have just walked by and not thought twice about it, but I, being one of the bodybuilding freaks who looks at everyone as if he were tagged and posing, spotted the needle in the... you get the metaphor.
"Hmm..." I mumbled as I slid the heavy frame out and inspected it. "WOW."

Double-take! I was looking at a poster of Samir Bannout, and not only that, right next to him was Betty Weider, and next to HER was none other than the drop-dead gorgeous babe, Rachel McLish. I couldn't believe my luck. This was a HUGE poster, and it had been donated, probably by some prissy wife who gutted her husband's gym during a garage sale. I dusted it off with relish.
"Mine," I said. A sticker read $1.15, discounted from $6 because the glass was cracked.

That was when I realized what I was truley holding: ... it was autographed. Not just a signature either, specially written to someone from Samir. Guess who it was written to? Betty Weider. ... YEAH ...

"Betsy,
Thanks for all the HELP & my best wishes!
Sincerely your Friend
Samir Bannout
Mr. Universe
Mr. World
Mr. Olympia"

Needless to say, it's in my bedroom right now. SO ANYWAY! This forum is about bodybuilders, not their highly rare posters: I know a lot about Bannout, but I want to talk about him. 1983 Mr. Olympia and champion in his own right, he has many competitions under his belt. But how did he start? He's the Lion of Lebabnon, but how did go from meat-headed Lebanese guy to Mr. Christmas Tree? (his lats in the 1983 Olympia coined the phrase "Christmas Tree Lower Lats")

Talk to me Bretheren!

Love
It can move one's heart to see a young couple romantically enthralled with each other. But the heart becomes deeply sad just a few months later - to see their paralyzing dependence on one another.

The more intense has been the religion of any period and the more profound has been the dogmatic belief, the greater has been the cruelty and the worse has been the state of affairs

That's pretty wicked how he can make the Lebanese flag with his lower back.

he fought water retention problems until he finally put it together in 83 for the win.

IMo that short era between 80-83 was interesting because you didn tknow who would win. since then its just same dude for 6-9 years

So about this poster!

With a legacy like Bannout's, what am I really hoding when I hold the poster? Is it rare and Valuable? Do I need to buy a safe? Should this go in a museum?

1.) An autographed poster.
2.) Rare - yes. Valuable - somewhat. However, most of the value is not monetary.
3.) No.
4.) No.
