keto is awesome?
ok i have been doing keto 3-4 weeks and i started out at 170lb
today i weighed in at 160
after the first week or so i dropped to about 164 from water/etc
after the first week that weekend i didnt have a carbup, i just ate above maintenance cals to give myself a break from the low cals during the week,
then after my second week i had a carb up, and it went good ate lots of oatmeal , rice cakes (yummy) and some low fat triscuit chips or something, they was great!
so during my 3rd week i felt good all week, so i decided not to start carbing up every weekend and try to go every other week,
i think i can handle it but its hard, i have been tired and need a carbup soon haha, and i got some new food i wanna eat, thats clean! just has carbs in it
also i have a question, since this is a good diet to keep muscle, i feel i might be losing some... idk prolly just losing fat making my arms look smaller haha
i been lifting 4 times a week, and after each weight lifting session i do 30min high incline walking, then get home and slam down some eggs, is this too much cardio? thanks!!!!!!

Due to my schedule I have to do my cardio after my weights. I do about 30 minutes without issue. No loss of muscle or strength.
I know what you mean about feeling like you have lost muscle. Yesterday I felt small and I had a mental flash of losing all of the hard earned muscle I have now. So I took out the measuring tape and found out that the only thing that has shrunk is my waist. Arms, quads, calves, etc are all within .25 inches of where I started.

The flat look/feeling is just being empty of glycogen. Believe me, all your muscle is still there, and it's very easy to maintain muscle on a cut; I even put some on last month :-) You'll look full for a couple days after your carbup, then you'll probably go back to feeling flat again. But don't worry about it, all you're losing as fat as long as you're eating enough!

The fat your are losing also make it seem like you are losing size but you are probably gaining definition.
As far as carbs ups, maybe try a smaller weekly carb up over a bi-weekly first?
As far as cardio, it's probably fine. I'll probably get yelled at for saying this but if you feel recovered, you might want to add a fifth day of weights. It helps you work one or two body parts a week extra and has been helpful for me.
Also, creatine has helped me gain some pump which is very motivating and helps my lifts a lot.

Careful with the PB and J....on carbups you invert your macros, so it's 60% carbs, 30% protein, and 10% fat...that PB&J might be pretty high in fat from the PB. I don't even eat PB on my carbups, all my fat comes from chicken/tuna.
My last carbup went great, I gained 5 lbs (glycogen and water, not fat ;-)) and I ate 1g protein per pound of body weight, and 8-9 g of carbs per kg. of lean body mass (your weight - weight of your body fat, divided by 2.2) which was about 400 g. of carbs. I didn't really watch my fats because everything I ate was lean. I do a 12 hour carbup every two weeks, but you can do more since you're larger and male. And if you can't eat all that food, it's ok, I never do either.

A carb up should be minimum 200 carbs after fiber. 200 is a good number to try and see if it is enough for you. It might be perfect, you might want more. Just have to try.
Creatine will help with the soreness as well as getting you more pumped. Good luck.

Where did you get 200 from? Just curious. Because if a person takes in 2400 calories on their carb up (which isn't that much compared to whatever their maintenance is), then 800 calories from carbs is only 30% which isn't that much in the gransd scheme of things.

I'm not talking about a full carb up.
I'm just stating for those who do not carb up but wish to give their metabloism a kick start every once in a while, 200 grams is the minimum.
I believe I got the number from Eileen

I find this combinate works best for fat loss.
Body-For-Life and EAS made popular the routine of doing cardio on seperate days. But, prior to 1997 lmost all major training programs included cardio after your workouts.

As far as I remember, 200g of carbs is the amount you need to reset leptin levels and keep your thyroid firing properly.

Do sugar alcohols count towards this number? How often did the person say that it's necessary to take in 200 before leptin fakks?

The book I read was dealing more with thyroid problems caused by constant dieting, and actually recommended apple pie and ice-cream. It wasn't aimed at body builders and didn't mention sugar alcohols.
Considering the way you carb-up, Jaime, I can't imagine it's a problem for you.
