didn't know where to post this. am i getting too much sleep?
i don't think it has to do with nutrition so i'll post it here
i sleep about 9 hours a day, is that too much? i mean not so much as to kill gains but my social life
like would i do just as good by getting only 8 hours a day? i generally ste my alarm 9 hours ahead when i go to bed so if i sleep all the time i get 9 hours and if i dnt get much sleeep i don't waste any more time
if u have any experience with sleep please tlel me

That's a lot of sleep. Why waste that 1 hour, might as well do something productive.

9 hours isn't too much sleep. 8 is generally the accepted normal amount but one more hour won't hurt you.
if you really want to figure out if you're hurting yourself by sleeping too long, go look up how long it takes to get into REM sleep and the phases of that. that should tell you your optimal amount of time to sleep.
but to the poster who said they could sleep 14 hours, i agree. i'd sleep all day if i could.

it says you need 90-110 minutes to complete a full REM cycle. so i would take the time you sleep (just do 60 x # hours) and divide that by 90. if you can have full REM cycles in that time, that's good.

your body sleeps as long as it NEEDS to unless you are depressed or something of that nature. Generally, if you're sleeping, it's cuz your body needs it.

so 60 times 9 devided by 90
that would be 6 or something
so i need 6 hours of sleep?

I'll feel slightly pissed with 7 hours. Anything less kinda screws up the next day. 8.5 hours would be perfect.

6 would be the number of rem cycles you get during a nine hour period. if they are full rem cycles then that should be good and healthy.
that's why many people can't just take power naps and be good. they were not getting into full rest REM sleep.

Seems to me that when I sleep more the more tired I get.
I don't really get it.

if you sleep too much your body feels groggy. if you sleep too little, you're unrested. kind of a bitch how that works but you gotta follow the rules.

5 x 90 = 450
450/60 = 7.5
so if you sleep 7 and a half hours, you'll have a full 5 rem cycles. sleeping 8 hours won't hurt you.

Are you serious? Sleep 7 or 8 hours a night and see how you feel after a week or two of doing so.
This isn't rocket science.
