Smile Graveyard Shift

I work out on a daily basis and up until now it has been in the morning time, but i just changed jobs and will be going to a graveyard shift [5:30pm-7:00am]. I have heard eating at night can cause you to gain fat and that is what i am trying to avoid. Now, I do get breaks every 2-3 hours and i will be going to the gym before or possibly after work. but since I will be sleeping in the morning i figure after work would be a better choice. I would like to know from anyone that works a night shift if this job will hinder my progress for growth. Also I only work 3 days a week so the other four wouldn't be a problem. If anyone knows a good hardcore 4 day workout that would be good as well. Any help is appreciated. Opinions welcomed.

The "eating at night" thing is a myth based on SLEEP, not the actual fact that the sun went down. Your body doesn't just decide to say "Holy ****, the stars are out. Time to get fat!". Not only that, but your body does not shut down its metabolism when you go to sleep. Most people here have a pre-bed meal consisting of a slow-digesting protein and some healthy fats.

I'm not trying to be an *******, but think about your question. In other words, if I moved to Hong Kong and led a normal daytime life, would my body immediately start to store all my food as fat and would my progress in the gym be forever gimped because of the fact that it's nighttime over on the other side of the planet?

I get what your saying but my question wasn't so much about the shut down of my metabolism but can i use my diet plans for the graveyard shift and will the result be the same as if i worked in the day time. But thank you for helping me to clarify my question.

Moring is morning and night is night... I work swing shift so I wake up at around 11 a.m do my cardio and then eat my first meal at around noon. I work until 11:30 p.m. I eat at 4:30, 7, 9 and midnight.. I workout from midnight until 1:30-2:00 a.m then have a protein shake and go to bed at around 3-4 a.m

Seems to work for me. Just adjust your schedule accordingly..

personally I would recommend you just flip your life around in terms of eating...

Basically IMO you should train before you go to work (after sleeping). Your test levels will be highest when you first wake up (which will be about 2-3pm).

I figure you should come home from work at 7:30am, eat CC and PB, go to sleep from 8-2 or 2:30pm...then get up...or whenever you feel you need. Eat a good hearty meal, train within 60-90 minutes, then have meals prepped for work...that should work

for a 4 day split, something like chest/biceps, shoulders/abs, legs/abs, backs/triceps.
