upright row and shoulder impingement

hey i heard that doing upright rows is bad for your shoulders because it causes impingement? is this true? when i do them i dont get any pain does this mean i could still be getting some impingement?

Some exercises that are staples to some are taboo to others. If its comfortable to you then I don't see why you should have any issues with it. Excellent example are shoulder presses behind the neck. I don't feel comfortable with it but my boy can rep it at 185 for ten.

If your shoulders are healthy, you're fine. If you want to be on the safe side, don't go past your upper chest level.

Otherwise, try widening your grip. However, it will change the target of the exercise slightly (traps to lateral deltoid).
