180lbs. to 155lbs. (pictures)
hey everyone.. this is my first post, I've been lifting for about a month and a half so far but that isn't what this thread is about, i just saw some guys post about a transformation and thought i would post my own.
in september 2002 i was a freshman in highschool and weighed 145 pounds, at about 5'9". I didn't have a six pack but I had ab definition and was quite healthy actually. I ran track and played basketball up until then.. I don't know what exactly happened but I just got really depressed and quit going to school and would go 2 weeks at times without even leaving the house..
By March 2003, I weighed 198 pounds, I looked at the scale one morning and told myself I would never get to 200. I ran my fat ass around the block all day long, when i came home I was 199 lbs. I thought to myself, "WTF??"
I knew exercise alone wasnt going to fix my problem... but it was all I did for awhile.. the first days of June, I started the atkins diet, then I went to summer school and took P.E. Everyday we had to run 3 miles, then we'd play something lame like volleyball or badmitton, I don't know what I was thinking, I hated running at that weight, if I ran at full speed I would have to stop 15 seconds later. It was painful.. but it had to work.
I stopped drinking soda, no more fast food, no more anything that was fried, i had been saving up money for some cobra rims on my car (a 1990 Ford Mustang GT) and decided since I only had $200, I might as well put it towards something more usefull, right now than wait longer and get something 'cool' (I still havn't gotten the rims, lol) I bought a grill.
My mother bought a freezer full of steak and I basically started the atkins diet.. Now that it's over, I realize how unhealthy the atkins diet it but it worked for me..
In a 2 week span, I lost 15 pounds.. One day at summer school I ran the whole 4 hours, only taking breaks to grab a drink out of the hose. (my city holds summer school at a middle school, and there are no places to run except outside on the track/football field. My teachers brought a hose out for me to drink, which I did... like a fish)
By the time summer school was over, I was down to 180 pounds, I felt good but still wanted to lose another 20 pounds, I went to visit my grandparents in Swaynesburrow, Georgia. That's where my before picture was taken, I laid out in the pool thinking it would be funny to draw a smiley face on my obese back with sun screen and leave the rest of my skin unprotected... later that night my skin was firetruck red and was hot to the touch.. two days later everything was fine but I still have an outline of the smiley face to this day.
Enough of the boring story, I doubt few of you will even read that part.. heres the pictures. The fat one was taken in July and the other was taken 2 weeks ago (I've had the weight off for about 4 months now but since I started lifting, i've been taking a lot of pictures)
Well, that's my story. I lost a lot of fat, still have a lot more but I'll worry about it later. I'm trying to bulk up and gain muscle right now (it's funny, a year ago I could eat a cupcake and gain 5 pounds, now, I eat a 5 pound steak and gain an ounce.) I'm taking Whey Protein, Creatine Monohydrate, L-Glutamine (powder) BCAA's, NO2, and a multivitamin
2 months ago I could only bench 85 pounds, now I'm maxing at 155, still nothing impressive but it's surely an improvement. I plan on weight lifting for a long time, my father is 44 and has been doing it since he was 16, he could pass as a man in his early 30's, exercise keeps you looking young, and I never want to get old. lol. Thanks for those of you who read this and are going to reply. ANY feedback is welcome.
Later,
Mike Hancock (16 year old from Indiana)
