ESPN overdoing the 'need more blacks in sports' stories
There were plenty of Jackie Robinson stories over the weekend, which was good. He changed sports in a positive way. I never get tired of seeing features on him. What an athlete he was.
But I did get tired of all the features on why there arent' enough blacks in professional baseball, or golf, or this sport, or that sport. Or why don't we have more black coaches or gms or blah, blah, blah.
I swear, I have never watched a sporting event where I counted how many athletes there were of this race and that race and another race. I don't worry about how many whites are playing pro basketball, or how many blacks are playing tennis, or why we don't have more asians or hispanics or whoever. That is not what sports is about.
I think there are too many sportscasters who don't have anything to talk about so they just look for some angle to whine about. Just cover the sports. I personally don't even want to hear about off-the-field behavior or crimes on ESPN. This isn't the news. It's not America's Most Wanted. It's not 'To Catch a Predator'. It's not even Entertainment Tonight.
Just show the highlights. Report scores, trades, and injuries. In other words, let's get back to sports, ESPN.
