Lots of pros are married. I think it can work out just fine, it's not like there aren't more time-demanding jobs than bodybuilding, most of the bodybuilding life style can be done at home so as long as you don't get a really bitchy wife that's gonna complain every time you leave for a couple hours to go work out or the handfull of times a year you have to leave to compete you'll be fine.

She must be ok with:
protein farts
drug use
odd hours
constant feedings
2 hours a day in the gym
and she must also understand that her life and career are almost automatically guaranteed to take a back seat to your career.
Make your choices wisely bro, if you marry someone they should be your soul mate, not just some louse b*tch who wants your kid so she can let herself get fat and lazy. God I hate women.

some marriages work and some marriages fail.....yes, being a pro bodybuilder can put a strain on a marriage but so can a lot of other other things.......
i was in a marriage that didnt work...had nothing to do with bodybuilding....
if you really want to ty to be a pro bodybuilder, and you dont follow that dream, it will effect your marriage when you think about bodybuilding and say "what if???" and then you look at your wife and blame her for not reaching your goal....

That is very true.
I am currently making the transition from powerlifting to bodybuilding - I am also engaged. The important thing is that I'm engaged to a woman who is equally concerned with her fitness and appearance - she keeps me motivated and gets mad at me if I want to skip a workout. That's the type of person you need to find.
If you try to marry some nightclub skank, it just won't work. The appeal of your muscles will fade after a while, and she'll want to go back to a life of partying hard and letting herself go. Find a girl with respect for her body and herself, and you'll be golden.
Best of luck with whatever you decide bro.

bodybuilding is less than an 8hour a day job....just like any other career, like sports players, etc...
blowing it out of proportion

bodybuilding is a 24/7 job......not to mention a strain on the pocket book.......if you're going to settle down and you want to be a pro, makes sure she is cool with all the facets of bodybuilding or it will never last........

Cutlers beautiful wife, Kerry has been huge for Jay for many many years. Having said that, Kerry also put herself through school at the same time and is now a very successful nurse practitioner - she's a very smart women and her career does not take a back seat to Jay's - they are a team and have built this thing up from nothing.
It can work folks. Good luck!

I agree with most of this, except for the "put her career on the back seat" thing. As someone said, Kerry put herself through school and Jay pretty much cooks his own meals and the sort, so a wife could easily have a normal life. Actually, it would be way easier then a military husband or someone in law enforcement or health care.
Shawn Ray has a wife and kids too.

I know that Gunter is married to Kim Lyons, who, as some of you may know, is a personal trainer. She was on that show "The Biggest Loser" It just kind of goes to show, if you dont have a woman that is just as active as you are or one that fully supports you in what you do, chances are, it wont work.

ok.... with the lack of punctuation, you are a bit confusing...
a lot of pros are married, a lot of pros are happily married
are you deciding on whether or not to get married by looking at professional bodybuilders as an example?

Your going to base YOUR life after what a PRO does in his personal life??? It really doesn't matter, so long as you eat right, take your viatamins, and make the gym BrOtHeR! Oh, and don't forget to say your prayers!

Preferable if your wife is into health and fitness, preferably if you could find a fitness or figure or bodybuilder competitor.
Guess it would also work if you found a gay bodybuilder who was a great spotter, cook, and came from ample family money! If you are into that kind of thing.
