What's the best side-scrolling fighting game of all time?
My vote goes to Streets of Rage 2.
This game had it all......cool characters, cool bosses, lots of moves. Axle was the ****ing man.
Close second goes to River City Ransom for the NES:
This game was lots of fun.....and it was cool how there were some adventure/RPG elements mixed into it. You had to find the bosses, and you could go into stores and buy stuff.

I liked Streets of Rage 3 better, I remember if you held Back + B you could become Shiva the first boss it was awesome. Adam, Axel, Blaze, Zan, Roo...I forgot Adam's brothers name.

the old X-Men arcade game was pretty good too, i still play them all the time on MAME
and for best side scrolling shooter: Metal Slug series

I had Battletoads. It was fun, but it was the hardest ****ing game ever. I don't think I ever got past the 3rd or 4th stage.

Golden axe was an excellent arcade game.
and seeing battletoads above just makes my thumbs sore... I used to play that till they were raw.

god i loved double dragon 2..marion was freakin hot back in the day!...first one was awesome also...3rd one was ok
agree on streets of rage 2 and tmnt2, those were awesome as well.
ninja gaiden 2 for nes was insane as well. some of the best music ever, but hard as hell, almost impossible to beat without game genie
theres somethin i always liked about side scrollers that you really cant replicate with the 3d we use today. kinda miss that era.

yea big guy was max and little guy was skate. skate was useless but max could throw down. still no one was better than axle. towards towards B = GRAB THE PAW...at least thats what it sounded like! if u put it on mania level it really is manic!
