Why I might feel so much better on low carb diet...
Well, my mom I have already known is a type I diabetic... today found out when she got bloodwork done that she also has celiac disease.
Now, when I used to eat a lot of carbs, a lot of that was well bread and tortilla chips, other snack foods... both wheat...
HMMMM
just wondering if you can be predisposed and have undetectable symptoms that are low level, my little theory is my body just doesn't deal with them well.
anyway just a thought of why I personally feel better without a ton of carbs. that being said I am NOT diabetic, my mom has done readings on me after large carb ingestions and large meals and my blood sugar remains very stable. but was overweight when i was a kid for a few years.
anyway just thought I would share, feel free to chime n or whatever.

I was just gonna post a thread about something similar to this.
On a serious note, doing just 2 months of keto will probably change how you live/eat for a very long time. I've only been doing it about 3.5 months now, but I know for a fact that while I won't do pure keto for much longer (plateauing too easy), I will always be on a high fat (50-55%+) diet, with carbs always sticking at 15% or less... And not just because that it's a diet and will help me not gain weight too easy, it just feels so good. I'm rarely tired, I always have all my strength in the gym even after not carbing up in 2 weeks, and I just feel so healthy all the time.
I'll never look at bread/pasta again and think "oh boy that'll be tasty" because I know it'll just make me feel lousy and tired afterwards like it used to.. I'll always have those days where I'll live life and have them, but they won't be very frequent... I know I'm still young and in the climax of my exercise/bodybuilding excitement, but I think I can honestly state that low carb is where it's at no matter what my goals will be in the future.

Alot of good fats like coconut oil and meat will sure help alleviate the problems of celiac disease or any digestive disorder. I hope your mom's doctor knows what he is doing.

I have the same thoughts too. Diabetes runs rampant on my mom's side and even though I don't have it I've shown signs of being predisposed to it if that makes sense. So, even though I might not do Keto forever, don't know at this point, I know that by doing it now and learning I will never go back to eating the garbage I was before and hopefully that will keep me from getting diabetes. Although I might not have a choice later on.

I need serenity in a place where I can hide
I need serenity, nothing changes days go by
Where do we go when we just don't know
And how do we re-light the flame when it's cold
Why do we dream when our thoughts mean nothing
And when will we learn to control-Godsmack

Type 2 diabetes is hugely influenced by lifestyle. Following a diet/lifestyle that is basically keto should stop you ever getting it. Not to mention a lot tastier than most of that low-fat crap.
