I am so Islamic scholar or anything..but from what I gather is that the Qu'ran has a lot of different translations which say completely different things.

The muslim that you study your math homework may be reading the Qu'ran which preaches peace, love, and understanding while Osama is reading the Qu'ran which tells them to kill all heathens.

Matters of the afterlife are settled in the afterlife. Just because disbelievers are going to hell doesn't mean we shouldn't care about them in this life.

No, every single copy of the Qur'an contains the same text and has remained the same for 1400 years.

It's not as simple as that. There isn't any verse in the Qur'an that commands Muslims to kill disbelievers, and not even the terrorists make that claim (including OBL and friends). They justify their attacks as a means of retaliation. They think it's ok to kill civilians in retrebution for the dead Muslim civilians, when of course this isn't permissible at all, because we know that the prophet (pbuh) and the handful of Muslims he had with him at the dawn of Islam were tortured in many ways while others were killed, and not once have Muslims killed innocent people in return. In fact, upon returning to Mecca victorious with the Muslim army after years of being expelled, the prophet (pbuh) set them free without even fighting them.

Who cares what the Koran or various imams say? All that matters is the reality on the ground: widespread bigotry, intolerance, and hate throughout the Islamic world.

As for Mohammed (PIITB), quoting the prophet is about as useful as when hippies repeat the best-sounding quotes from Lenin or Carl Marx. Good intentions and fine words didn't make communism the benevolent workers paradise it was meant to be. Same for Islam: sounds nice in theory but in practice it brings out the worst in societies.

dont confuse religious actions with political actions. terrorists are not killing people because god tells them to. they kill people on behalf of their political organization while asking Allah for guidance.

know how you can interpret the meaning of a song differently than someone else? believers interpret their readings in different ways based on their reality.
