Dude, honestly, height is something you really don't have much control over. UNLESS you do take supplements that can help a little bit. Height is genetics, you really can't change it. Sorry dude.

My esteemed compatriot this is quite an intriguing and unusual question, and I have pondered it extensively and come to the conclusion that unfortunately there is nothing that can be done to help with this process. I hope that you find my answer satisfactory enough so that I may be provided with rep points. Thank you for your considering me for this gracious reward, I am looking forward to receiving forthwith.

I found this link in a thread on here at one time - http://www.giantscientific.com/. Supposedly, it can increase your height naturally, after you are finished puberty. I only bookmarked the link, and have not tried any of the stuff, but you may want to check it out.
Also, you can still experience growth spurts up until around 19, and can add *some* height after that, some people aren't finished until 21. Keep this in mind also.

Height is based solely on genetics, provided an outside factor is not introduced (growth hormone therapy etc.). As long as you do everything with good form and appropriate poundage, you will be fine. Increased activity of the muscles actually releases your body's natural hormones.

Being 5'7" is definitely holding this guy back.
You're young. You might grow, you might not. Work with what you got.

Clearly not with bodybuilding, he owns all of us. But name some taller natural bodybuilders out there (i.e. 6ft+)? One of the best I've seen, Rob Hope, is 5'5". Even the pros are typically 5'7"-5'11".
But when it comes to sports it's a different ballgame. Like you said, he's got to make the most of with what he's got, but you can understand the guy's frustration. I was pretty short until 15-16 and it sucked when it came to sport, unless I wanted to become a professional chess player or something.
Anyway, to the original poster, obviously genetics plays the biggest role by a mile, but make sure your diet is rich in all the important stuff so you're maximizing your growth potential.
