defining abs are ceated w/ 90% diet. eat a clean, healthy diet will give you great abs. Training w/ weight will enlarge your abs, which You don't want, so just do crunches and leg raises/twists to get the definition you're looking for.

i mean training abs w/ weight. such as holding a weight while doing crunches ect. if you like to eat junk you most likely will never have a 6pack, its just a trade off.

That won't help you at all. And by weight training he means adding weight to your ab exercises. (ex; Holding a plate on your chest while doing sit ups)

You like to eat junk food?
Fine, then you will never have the abs then you seek.
Like PumpJunky said, abs are almost entirely based on your diet.
Just about anyone with low bodyfat has the 'defined abs' look.

Twists make the obliques larger/wider, thus giving the appears of a larger mid-sections. Which it sounds the OP doesn't want.
Personally i like having large obliques, because when you have a low bodyfat they look really muscular.
To the OP,
Just wondering, but why do you want boring flat abs when you can have big rippling powerful looking abs?

'Steroid looking abs' can be a bit of a genetic thing too.
I don't have to train my abs very hard, but i am able to get that look.

Just use your own bodyweight for your abdominal exercises. Using weight can give you "blocky" abs, especially if you use weight for your obliques.

Ive never heard of such a thing, abs too big. What do you want flat abs?
Chances are that you won't get abs that are truly defined like some pro bodybuilders if thats what you mean.

First off doing squats stimulate your abs. So doing ab workouts right after squats/leg workouts lets you start ab workouts with a great ab pump. Second your abs dont need much rest between sets. Just take enough to catch your breath, 20-30 seconds. Also using heavy weights is not the asnwer. Weights are the short cut solution. they amke them visible, but also bulky, and sometimes unproprtinate, they also make them stick out. Thats why lots of pros look like they have huge beer bellys when they have shirts on. Also dont do a million reps, because that called overtraining. Just rember the main solution to getting abs is the diet. Even a little fat will cover the creases that define your abs. Honestly most people who can do 30 situps straight, already have that 6 pack, they just cant see it. That?s just my say on it.
