My journey starts today
Well over the years I've read enough to have a masters degree in nutrition. I wanna put that to use and lose 50 lbs of fat. Ive been tinkering with calorie calculators and seeing my needs. It looks like I need anywhere between 3,000 and 3500 a day for maintenance. I'm going on a 2500 calorie a day diet. Im fine on training, going to do something similar to B4L and resistance train 3x a week, and cardio 3x, probably more. My stats are as follows:
29
6'1
275
<30%
1st Goal
240 By mid may
220 by august
205 and 15% by November
I plan on keeping the diet clean, but it wont be perfect. I will keep the calories to 2500, that is going to be my main focus. my problem in the past has been one slip up and I feel like a failure. I'm going to enjoyt life and keep my caloric intake in check. I'd love to lose 3lbs a week, but that in itself is a little high, I wanna shoot for atleast 2 lbs a week and go from there. The reason for this thread is 3 fold: 1) Most importantly motivation and encouragement 2) Advice 3) a record of my progress. Anything anyone can give me will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

How long can I expect 3 lbs a week? If I stayed that course I could lose all 50 by june.
Also I have a question about water weight. I retain water BAD, I have upper my water consumption considerably, will this take some off? I wanna retain as little as possible, what can I do? I hate the bloated feeling.

Don't forget you will be gaining muscle during this so it will off set your losses by as much as 2 lbs a week sometimes. So if you measure it would really help you keep track.

You're definately right there. I need to stay away from the scale. I'm always curious to see how i'm doing. I need to limit it to one weigh in a week, as well as one measurement a week.

Sounds like a good plan to me...it's funny because I'm almost right where you are right now. I started in December, and I'm getting down to 16% body fat by next December. I'm no expert, so I don't usually try and give any specific advice or anything. I'll just say stick to your plan but be flexible with it, drink lots of water, and focus most of your energy on weight training and diet.
Good luck, man.

If you check back here often we can keep in touch. Support support support is important!
If your a scale-aholic like me your gonna have a tough time staying off the dang thing. even measuring in becomes an addiction after a bit especially if you are doing well! I had 3 days to my next measure and gave in and measured thank goodness I had made progress.
Your going to do great!!! Just stick with the program!

Thanks so much. I'm sticking with 2500 Calories a day, 200 grams of protien, and just not worrying about anything else. It will take time, but I will be fine by summer. I will adjust my calorie intake as I lose. Probably be down to 2200 a day after I reach my first goal. thanks again for the support! I will weigh and measure on monday and keep everyone updated.

It's definately worth it, I gotta keep that in mind. Well I couldn't resist, I got on the scale today. since wednesday i'm down a pound and a half. Gonna weigh and mesure myself wednesday morning and then try my best not to do it again but once a week. Just thought I'd update everyone.
How long before i should adjust the calories down, does anyone know?

adusting caloiries down has to be done by feel... are you losing? How do you feel energy wise? If you take those into account and continue to raise your activity level you will be better able to make that judgement. Then cut back as you go if you judge it is necessary and can do so without being starved. Don't forget 6 small meals a day is good for you.
