Need Book proposal revision ( Serious ) English Majors Preffered plz

Hey guys im taking english this semester and most of my grade is going to come from a book project we have to do. Its pretty much a 10 page book we have to write about, the topic can be anything. We all had to first write a book proposal so anyone whos in a reading mood please give me your feedback and constructive criticism. It is quite a long read( colin) thanks in advance

Book Proposal: A Sikh living in America

“F*** YOU, GO BACK TO YOUR COUNTRY, F***** TERRORIST!” These statements as which have been expressed a lot to me and my family, especially after 9/11 provide an interesting outlook on ignorance which I plan on writing about this book.

An interesting collection of events and thoughts, my writing is about my experiences throughout life In America living as a Sikh. Living in America with a strict religious background has given me an eventful 18 years, and even though I would like to believe we live in a world of tolerance and respect, I would be lying to myself. My religion, Sikhism is still a fairly new and young religion approximately 500 years old. Because of this not many people know of it and much ignorance is spewed out.
I will be writing mostly about the experiences throughout my elementary, middle school and high school. With the bad also comes the good, I will not only be writing about the discrimination and intolerance but also about how some people are educated and aware of other people’s identity. I plan on opening people’s eyes about what my religion is, where it originated from and the primary customs. I want it to be an educational book in a way because with education comes understanding and knowledge.

“There is nothing training cannot do. Nothing is above its reach. It can turn bad morals to good; it can destroy bad principles and recreate good ones; it can lift men to angelship.”(Mark Twain)
I believe in this quote and what Mark Twain is expressing. A lot of people are blinded by ignorance, and by education you can enlighten them and I hope to educate people about my religion with this book. Education is such a thing it can turn any ignorance into intelligence and tolerance.

Post 9/11 hate crimes and discrimination opened up another perspective of my life that I did not see before. 9/11 was a great tragedy regardless of skin color, age, gender or nationality. Unfortunately some people had a need to get revenge in some sort of way and a lot of people were affected. It was so severe to the point that A Sikh gas station owner was murdered In Arizona just because he wore a turban and was confused to be a Muslim.
“We are all one, created by the one creator of all creation. No enemy, no animosity. Love for one, love for all.” -Guru Nanak dev ji- founder of Sikhism. (Singh_ page 3). This quote is the message I will try to get out from my book and hopefully it will be successful. My book will be very different from others in way of style and presentation. Most of the other books are written by old scholars and PhD certified authors and such. I am just your average freshman college student even though still young, have a lot of experience underneath my belt. This book will not be just a string of facts and boring stories, but a unique interesting hard to put down book. The target audience is just about everyone as long as you can read and comprehend.
Ever had the feeling of some one spit on you in the bus just because of your religious headdress? Or as soon as you walk into a deli or store post 9/11 people begin with the stares and cursing? This and much more will be told through my eyes of what I experienced and hopefully it will educate my former English class along with anyone else who will read this book. I will be getting hands on interviews with many people from my religious place of worship called the “Gurdwara” and getting their views on post 9/11. I hope this book proposal has intrigued you and I hope to hear from you soon.
