Ergopharm GF-Pro Dutch Chocolate Review
Here's a review of Ergopharm GF-Pro Dutch Chocolate. I did not rate ingredients this time around because general information about whey isolates can be found here in the forums or elsewhere.
And even though a well-rounded, uncompromising ingredient profile is important, it's safe to say taste and mixability/texture are attributes which matter most. Anyway...
Taste: 8.5/10
Reminds me of heavenly-hash ice cream but in liquid form. I've had chocolate from Champion Nutrition, Cytosport, Dymatize, and Optimum Nutrition but I think Ergopharm sits atop the five brands I've tried thus far. ON was too chalky and gross after a while and Dymatize was a little too sweet for me. CN and Cytosport were good but I got tired of them really quickly.
No noticeable aftertaste. It's refreshing which is important to me. I don't want to be stuck downing something that sucks.
Mixability & Texture: 8/10
There is clumping when mixing with a shaker cup though it's nothing to fret about. Either you've to let it sit in the water/skim milk a little longer or shake for another 30 seconds or something. If the clumps tasted like crap maybe then I'd complain more. Clumping aside, it's a smooth texture. I mixed a single scoop with 8 oz. of skim milk.
Value: 7/10
The only way (that I'm aware of) to get GF-Pro in Canada is to order it online. Even after S&H and conversion, most proteins/supplements remain cheaper than supplements found in Canada. But the willingness to spend a bit more dough on GF-Pro is higher 'cause it's a decent product.
Conclusions & Overall: 8.5/10
Not an average this time. This is a good chocolate protein. I prefer conventional vanilla and chocolate proteins over fruit-flavoured proteins and this is pretty good compared to the lot I've tried in the past. I recommend it for anybody wanting to try another chocolate protein.
