P90X vs Weights+cardio for cutting while retaining muscles + strength
From what I've gathered P90X is a cutting program. I am trying to cut soon and I am just wondering what work out program will see the most results? Should I still with my old workout program with 3-4 days of heavy weights and 3 days of cardio or scrap all that for P90X.
I've read some great reviews on P90X and seen some great results but I am just worried now if I stop lifting heavy and do these body weight exercises, I'll lose a lot of muscle mass and strength.
Anyone have any input?

You won't get the full benefit of p90x unless you do the entire 90 day program.

yea i know. Im not sure what is better for cutting. p90x for 90 days or weights and cardio for 90 days in order for the weight loss.
And Im confused about P90X. Is it possible to gain strength and mass while doing the program or is it for cutting only? Im speaking from a view point of a experienced weight lifter and not just a beginner with newbie gains.

Honestly, p90x is not even a cutting program. It's a cardio program.
There is nothing magical about p90x that will make you gain strength and muscle. Most peole that try it are clueless newbies that benefit from noob gains or people that have slacked for a long time and benefit from muscle memory.
If you have been lifting heavy and you switch to body-weight supersets, you will probably lose muscle.
If you are not a newbie, then your best option I think would be to stick to your current workouts and eat under maintenance and/or do cardio.

I agree. P90X is gay and useless.

I agree with this. It's not a bad program, but the basic rules of body building still apply - lift heavy when you're cutting to preserve muscle mass.
If you like the idea of burning some calories while lifting, then look into circuit training programs or 10 x 3 for fat loss.

P90x isn't bodyweight supersets unless you want it to be. Most of the exercises on there use dumbbells besides pushups and pullups.
Granted the Leg workout is terrible imo, the other routines are pretty good for accessory work.
I wouldnt mind testing the waters of doing 3x5 of a main lift followed by p90x later in the afternoon as accessory.
IE:
OHP: 3x5 (AM)
P90x: Shoulders/Arms (PM)
could get some pretty sick results from it.
