Everyone probably has a base salary which is determined by your experience and popularity and all that. But what if your like Kofi Kingston or Sheamus? Their base salaries are probably very low. Do wrestlers get extra incentives like main eventing matches and being in pay per views?
You have a base salary- this is based on what the company thinks you are worth in terms of ticket sales, merchandise sales & the numbers you will add to a tv show or PPV.
On top of this you will get paid bonuses for PPV appearances, again where you wrestle on the card dictates how much this will be- if you are dark it will be minimal, opening match will be better, but mid card is what most guys will be aiming for, obviously the WWE top guys are generally the same bunch year in year out & they command the big bucks.

This.
It's all about what the employee is worth to the company. A guy like John Cena mightn't be the best technical wrestler around, but their target market is crazy about the man, he sells tickets, he sells merch, he's the #1 face of the company itself. Thus he gets paid amongst the top dollars.
Then you'll have guys like for example who are much better technical wrestlers like say a Tyson Kidd, but whom is lower on the pecking order regardless of how time he gets in the ring each week on TV etc. thus he gets paid much less.
You get paid what you're worth, full stop. Cena also does a lottt of work outside of the ring for the WWE that actually warrants his paycheck anyway. The man is a machine and any company would love his work ethic and professionalism.

Wrestlers have a downside guarentee then get bonuses from working tv tapings, appearing on ppv, more for main events, being champ, merch sales etc. I know Jericho and Show are on a 1 mil downside since Jericho appears on SD and RAW nearly everyweek and ppvs he would be making alot. I remember reading Lashley got 250k for his part in the battle of the billionaires match. Cena would be making over 2 mil with plane tickets hotels paid for i would imagine
