On This Day Thousands Of People Across The Country Travel To Watch A Football Game
Around 30,000 people per metro area pack up the kids or themselves and spend hundreds of dollars to watch grown men throw a football around. Most of the men at these games care and know more about their quarter back than their senator.
Instead of traveling to their state capital to protest what is going on, they sit in a stadium and watch men throw around a ball.
I partly blame the media for making politics boring. Fox does the best job at making it entertaining ie sending out jesse the ambush reporter...like him or not its entertaining. Why isnt their more of this "entertaining" political tv? Because the media is controled by special interests. Even something like 15% of fox news is owned by a saudi.
Anyways, its pathetic seeing these stadiums filled with people who would rather spend their money and time on that than to head to their capital building.

youre missing the point.
if we could get all those people interested in politics, then have them march to their local capital building, this country would be in much better shape.

The problem with "entertaining politics" is that it makes the subject seem simplistic and banal. Politics IS serious business and people need to realize it ought to be part of their daily lives since they live in a democracy. Want things to be better? Get involved.

Yeah go figure.
Imagine if people saved themselves tens of thousands of their own dollars by protesting the fact that half of their wages are taken out of their paychecks.
Maybe they could use that money that would have been used to line the pockets of fanny/freddy/goldman/etc to travel the world.

I played football, baseball, and basketball throughout my childhood until I left high school. Once I graduated high school I played college rugby for a year. I used to watch sports all the time on tv, and even played sports video games. It used to upset me when my hometown teams lost. However, once I graduated high school, my whole perspective changed. I got disgusted with how much professional sports players get paid. Then, I started realizing that they were just games, and that investing that much time into them is stupid. Now, I can care less about sports. It's ridiculous how people turn simple games into the most important things in their lives. People make way too much of a big deal out of sports. They make it into life or death situations. People arrange their lives around when the game's coming on, and are sad for a week when their team loses.
They are more worried about what egotistical criminal their favorite football team just signed for $10 million a year instead of who their president is. Apparently, how many points their fantasy team scored this week is more important than a presidential candidate's ideas and history.
By the way, I'm not saying people shouldn't watch sports. I'm just saying people make WAY too big a deal out of it.

sport worship is a mass brainwashing tactic used by the elite to sedate the masses and to make them feel like they belong to a group.

It is way to early in the grand scheme of things to be having this argument. There has not been enough pain fealt yet for a re-evaluation. Besides, this area is safe and still serves it's purpose. Can you imagine the crap storm that would ensue should any governing body interefere with such a high priority as sports or entertainment. The age of idiocracy needs to ferment a while longer before anything can be accomplished in this area.

Seriously? What is this.
Sports are entertainment. People enjoy playing/watching/the feeling of competition. It's entertainment.. not a method of control. Football is popular because the people made it popular. The athletes get paid a lot because we watch it a lot, not because elites use sports to brainwash the masses.
Where the hell did you get the assumption that athletes and their fans don't get involved in politics. Strong assumption
