Mr. Obama, during his private pep talk to Democrats, recognized Mr. Owens election and then posed a question to the other lawmakers. According to Representative Earl Blumenauer of Oregon, who supports the health care bill, the president asked, ?Does anybody think that the teabag, anti-government people are going to support them if they bring down health care? All it will do is confuse and dispirit? Democratic voters ?and it will encourage the extremists.?

So it seems that in our wacky president's mind, anyone with a difference of opinion, who doesn't want the government running their life, is apparently an extremist. Not sure why Obama can't simply say this to people's faces instead of going behind their backs like he has done many times in the past.

He said the protests will encourage the extremists. He didn't say that they are extremists.

^^^i think the extreme view is people dont think extremists exist or that more importantly that america isnt a nation of centrists.

far left and far right, are such when in comparison to the majority of centrists in america.

yes the tea bag movment is extreme compared to the majority of centrists views on america.

is there anything wrong with obama calling it that, of course not. as long as he makes it clear he isnt making a point about their intentions only their comparative political views.
