What if it's not JUST genetics?
First of all, let me lay down two facts:
1)Genetic expression is directly influenced by the external environment
2)The basic frame and structure of your body is determined largely in the womb, and secondly in your first 1 or 2 years of life
So what if some of our genetic expression was stunted in these critical formative periods? What if we all have the genetic code to be massive beasts, but unfavorable environmental conditions during crucial periods of genetic foundation stunted this? For a simple example: Your genes say to build 5 units of bone, but the embryo only has enough nutrients available to produce 3 because your mother did not consume enough calcium/vitamin A/whatever. What if America's love for junk food is causing this? Like when a mother's calories are wasted on junk food, there will be less actual nutrients usable to the rapidly growing unborn infant. In another thread I read something about farmers being more mesomorphic and solid in their builds, compared to the on average more slender city folk- farmers and their wives typically eat more wholesome diets than city people who are closer to processed and junk food outlets
Of course, your structure will change on a micro level throughout your life, but the basic structure and foundation is permanent, so any deficiencies, however mild, may affect your permanent structure. So what if an ectomorphic body is simply an underdeveloped one whose basic structure is not optimal, due to less than optimal nutrition when the basic structure was formed? And what if pure mesomorphs were just lucky and had enough prenatal nutrition to build a full body?
So what do you all think? Do you think this theory has any validity?

no.
do you have any idea how genes are passed on? any idea of cell replication?
to put it very simply, if your body says build it, it will build it with the materials available.
and you have to remember, the reason farmers are sturdier, more mesomorphic, is because they work with their hands. They WORK for a living. Tossing around bales of hay all day, driving heavy farm machinery, shepherding animals combined with their diet (free of most crap) will do wonders for the physique.

But that's the point, what if your body says "Build it", but the physical materials necessary to fully build it are simply not there? You can't build a car or house out of nothing, and you can't build a mansion out of only enough material to build a smal one story house- you have to have the materials there- why should the human body be exempt from this universal 'law'?

that is why it rocks to have a degenerative genetic code.
And if it simply wasnt there, sooner or later you would die.

There would still be enough nutrients there to build up your body enough to survive, obviously(otherwise the infant would die) but maybe there isn't enough to fully express your genetic code

if there is enough to keep you alive, there is enough to express the genetic code. The body can break down other tissues for nutrients. The effect would be absolutely marginal

Like what other tissues? Like from the mother's body?

Well, I meant what if it's not just 'bad' genetics that cause ectomorphic bodies, but unoptimally expressed genetics? What if we all have good genetic potential, it just gets stunted or something?

if you are talking about this in the pre-birth form, the child will almost certainly be stillborn, or highly deformed.
at a later stage in life, all it takes is to look down the family photo albums through the ages. My fathers side was medium height, broad shouldered and more of a square shape. My mothers was (uncles, grandfathers etc.) were tall and lean, slim waists. I inherited the broad shoulders from my father, and the slim waist of my mothers side. My brother inherited my fathers side purely. It is all about dominant and recessive genes.
You won't automatically be massive, have huge testosterone levels and gain an inch on your biceps just by brushing your teeth because you were well fed pre-birth.
