I will give an example were the old book no longer is valid. Read all the passeges about priests and sacrifices in the old testament for forgivenss of your sins. When Jesus came he sacrificed his life for us. Jesus also makes new testaments and how to ask forgiveness of your sins. This voids the old testament way. Thus the catholic way of confessing your sins to a priest is useless because it clearly states in the new testament who you confess your sins to.

I'm not slamming any religion in particular its just what I believe.

Then why is it after Jesus came and died there were no longer sacrifices like in the old testament? Its because Jesus paid the ultimate sacrifice changing the ways of the old testament.
