Great food for breakfast !
hey all,
I tried too found an alternative to oats.
I found it: sprouted wheat loaf ! "Essene" bread.
Here is its nutritionnal values:
ingredients: sprouted wheat
per 100 g
carbs (complex): 50 g
protein: 10 g
fat: 0.3 g
dietary fiber: 10 g
It's sugar tasty and 100 % natural 100 % sprouted wheat !
It contains a bit less carbs than oats but I can eat 200 g easily as it's really good, I eat it with sugar free jam.
The best point of its nutritionnal value is its glycemic index of 35 !! really low...
So here you have it.
I recommend it and still recommend oats which rox !
I eat essene bread on breakfast and post workout and I blend a bit of oatmeal in each of my meal with brown rice and green lentills.
Does anyone else know about this food ???

I should have caught on. If I remember correctly a slice of bread is ~ 45 g. So, per 100 g would be nearly two slices of bread would be ~250 kcal, perhaps a bit. It seems like a good alternative for breakfast just need a protein source. But it still seems like average bread to me with a really high fiber count.
The math is below:
50 g of CHO -- 50 g CHO x 4 kcal/1 g of carb = 200 kcal from CHO
10 g of Protein -- 10 g protein x 4 kcal/1 g of protein = 40 kcal from protein
0.3 g of Fats -- 0.3 g of fat x 9 kcal/1 g of fat = 2.7 kcal from fat
Total - ~250 kcal per two slices of bread
4 kcal/1 g of CHO
4 kcal/1 g of protein
9 kcal/1 g of fat

ingredients = 100 % sprouted wheat (or other cereal), no salt, no sugar, no nothing
It's no average bread bro, it has a big amount of low GI complex carb (35).
Average bread glycemic index is 70-80, whole bread 60-70.
I take 3 scoop of whey on breakfast + 200 g essene bread + 50 g sugar free jam + almonds and nuts.
Then I eat oats on day time at each meal.

I live in Paris so I buy it in a health food store "Naturalia".
I guess it's easy to find some in the US.

Some scoops are smaller than other... For example whey gourmet 1 scoop = 4 scoops of cytogainer...
