Classic Vs IFBB body (funny thing)

I am a cross roads getting to the point in size that I can go the freak look or the classic look... But as I think about what I am going to do.. a funny thing happened.
My wife saw the new 300 preview its a new movie of Spartan warriors.. I caught her, under her breath in a "OH-My" She was damn near drooling as she watched it. She has been vocal about how the IFBB guys are cool... but just not what a woman looks for in a guy. She's even watched the MrO on PPV with me. She admires the hard work of it all.
So I took some time & actully did some faceless photos of Pros & then screen clips of more classic builds.. & pass them about the women I work with it even ended up a vote thing at my local gym. I hate to say this.. the IFBB Freak body types did poorly.
So do you think that with the New MrO & guys like Tony Freeman & the poor placing of the mass monsters that maybe the IFBB will start to reward those who take into account the over all & not just the mass?
Not trying to start a war.. just wondering IF the IFBB will start to shift its view or not?
PART 2
Actully the reason I am in the gym has nothing to do with my wife.(motorcycle crash with rehab that I ended up enjoying the training) What I was getting at was hopefully there will be a shift & maybe that shift will get a new fan base. Women are a untapped fan base. Like I said not trying to start a war just wondering where the IFBB will be if things dont change ?

Exactly. The aesthetics **** is dead. Mass with class is what the ifbb is going for now. The freakier the better when it comes to heavy hitters who frequent the top 3. At least according to the judging in this era.

What your post looks like to me..is your saying IFBB judging should shift away from freaky and more to smaller and aesthetic because then women will think they are sexy.

WTF??????????????

yeah man you gotta question why you're in a gym. if you're lookin for a physique that's gonna blow womens minds then it's gonna be fitness modellin and your average GQ physique. the vast majority appreciate that women are not turned on by markus ruhl, ronnie coleman and certainly not greg kovacs lol.

However if you're in the gym to truly bodybuild, then impressin women, to an extent, is not at the top of your list of priorities. it's to build the best physique you can and gettin bigger and stronger.

for me, i'm fortunate in that i don't juice and i'm a relative hardgainer and my physique is one that girls don't mind. having said that women is not my priority for training, they're a bonus. get your priorities right

They'll be exactly where they are...no more, no less.

If they watered down the physiques, they would'nt gain any more audience...just lose the one they have.

Were the photos of the ifbb pro's close to contest shape? That can make a HUGE differnce in opinion, here's a little story..

Im at some big outdoor pool with my family and im looking through a musclemag. My dad catches a glimpse of Gunter and says "OH! now thats a good body, not so huge". So I say yeee? and turn to a page with gunter in contest shape. I then explained to my dad and aunt that this is just a temporary look and that many pro's look good in the eyes of the avg ppl when they have some fat on them. It was kind of funny, considering Gunter is one of the biggest.

You didn't have to flame out like that. Its a different era leave it at that. Bob said it perfectly.

He didn't diss the classic bodybuilders. They did what the could at that time. They WERE freaks of their era. You just made yourself look like a child.

i think there is one very important thing to remember here..

zane, mentzer, draper did not wake upone day and say i want to build a "classic" physique. the spent every day they had trying to develop their bodies to their very maximum, every thing they culd do to become that little bit bigger they did.

if draper was walking around now do you really think he would not also be a freak?. every single bodybuilder who lifts a weight wants to be the biggest most ripped person they can be. all that has changed is the level of understanding we have of the human bodies responce to training and how to maximise our gains.

it was not all that long ago that people realised you needed a higher protien intake to gain muscle. in 20 years everyone will be talking about classic physiques like ronnies

Yea, good post. Contest shape and not contest shape can make a huge difference because of the lack of no veins or striations which can sometimes turn a women off.

Also, I bet that the face had a lot to do with the bodies as well when she was watching the trailer and when exactly they were doing. If they are holding a sword up and yelling or whatever, maybe she is turned on by that?

I bet most women wouldn't have a problem with these bodies.

I am sure face has a lot to do with it.

Thumbs up

I agree with the above post, and this topic has had some pretty good ones too. Maybe she is turned on by the "acting" in the movie which portrays these warriors as "bad"asses, and the fact that they are ripped is because you cannot make a movie like that today using your average joe's body. Face it, we have set a standard in today's society, it is what it is. Go back in time...was Paul Newman, or Carey Grant ripped and built? Nope, but they were considered good looking to a lot of women and played these exact roles that these "oh my" bodies play, eh, it's all relative I think. It's not just the body either.

I myself workout for my sanity (stress release) and because I love it. The bonus is you look better than your average guy.

Yea, think about Brad Pitt in Fight Club. Everyone always talks about how much he looked "ripped" there etc. But just take a random picture of his body not doing anything and I bet he wouldn't be near as "attractive" to females. After all, a lot of us have bodies just as good if not better then he does but aren't world wide stars.

Then, put him in the scene he was in during "Fight Club" where he was "getting down and dirty", sweaty, and fighting with other guys on the ground with bruises all over him, and suddenly his "attractiveness and sex appeal" goes way up.
