Hey Guys-
What does Oatmeal taste like? Since everybody says it's good for you, i think i may try this.. but like everyone says Cottage cheese is good for you, and in all honesty that just makes me puke..
So can somone explain the taste of oatmeal to me? Obviously i'm going to try it.. but i want to know b4 hand what it tastes like..
I have 40 days untill spring break.. and i hope this time i'm seriouse and stay motivated to work out..

Learn to love it,
Cook your oats with lo-fatmilk, pinch of NaCl, when they are cooked.....eat them with a little applesauce and cinnamon.
taste awesome.

If your going to try oatmeal, steer clear of the flavored ones. The second ingredient is usually sugar and that is just plain bad. Get the old fashioned oats from quaker in a big cylinder. Add some protien powder, cinnamon, raisins, a little honey, and such for some added flavor.
I love the taste of oatmeal, but I think I am in the minority.

Just get the plain rolled oats then flavor as you like. Of course with healthy stuff. Plain it has very little taste.

Can't really explain the taste. My advice, if it's too bland is to add some blueberries/strawberries, cinnamon and a scoop of protein powder to it. Now THAT is a powerful meal

Wet cardboard indeed. Yuck. I like to sprinkle uncooked oatmeal on my yogurt though.

bunch of sallies
I dont know what you guys are talking about. Not even regarding taste (I will get to this in a moment), oatmeal, in contrast to other breakfast meals or just plain skipping breakfast (which is the worst thing to do) is by far hands down the best thing for you cutting or bulking or maintaining, dont believe me? Thats your own ignorance talking. Oatmeal is a low GI food with lots of fiber, and I am regarding the 5 minute oats straight out of the Quaker cylinder. I eat oatmeal with a 1/2 scoop of chocolate optimum whey every breakast, another serving pre-workout, then, my favorite, another serving mixed with raw oats post-workout, tastes like a freakin' chocolate oatmeal cookie. No milk, no nothing, just plaing H20+oats+chocolate whey, all in a shaker baby....god I want one right now, by far one of my favorite things to eat. You guys need to get a grip or grab a snickers and get off the board.

Absolutely right. I live on oats in the blender. About three meals a day I have a scoop or two of whey protein, H2O and oats. Blend for a couple of minutes and drink. My first and last meal I have this drink. But, I add flax seed oil. That way I get my two tablespoons a day.

The taste is pretty bland, like most unrefined carbs, but the texture is dreadful. Like putty.

Hold on, no one said anything about it being BAD!!! Just taste buddy, that's all we are discussing. I eat it once in the morning, pre and post, and also before dinner. Chill out.

My favorite way to have my oatmeal for breakfast is with 1 teaspoon of brown sugar replacement (Sugar Twin) & 2 teaspoons of sugar free low calorie maple syrup. Yum! When I need a bit of good fat, I also chop up 10 grams of walnuts and mix that in as well. Very good part of breakfast!

If you eat it plain, it tastes bland, no taste at all. Every morning I have a cup of oats, with a scoop of ON 100% Whey.. tastes amazing.. i love it.
Cheers

I grind mine up with a coffee grinder, then mix them in with my protein shake in a shaker cup. Thick mixture, and very filling.

Just get Quaker Oatmeal, it should say "rolled oats" under ingredients. They sell it in big tubs, pick up one or two. Oatmeal is so good... especially if you mix in protein powder, raisins, and cinammon. I only do the raisins as a special treat every once in a while, but I love oatmeal

funny how many posts there are about oatmeal. But the instant stuff only has 4 grams of protein per packet? does the not instant stuff have more?
And what whey do you guys think gives you the best gains

No one is eating oatmeal for its protein content. We eat it because it is an excellent source of complex carbs.

Proten powder actually dissolves very well when mixed with oatmeal. You might have to add a bit of extra liquid (I splash skim milk on mine), but the result has a puddinglike consistency and no chunks or any other nastiness. Plus, protein and oatmeal can taste much better together than they would if eaten separately. My vanilla protein powder has a weirdness to its taste that gets blunted by the oatmeal and the Splenda I add to the mixture, so all that's left is a nice hint of vanilla.

Carbs and some fiber and protein. I add pp, wheat bran, Splenda, and apples. Sometimes raisins but they're high in sugar.
