Sexually, well, the bigger the better and if there's no muscle, there's no play.
My boyfriend, who is not small by any standards is becoming alarmed at my "obsession" and is finding it "unhealthy" and somewhat discouraging. Needless to say, I love him just the way he is (though I wouldn't be against the idea of him gaining more muscle).
Am I alone in this? Is it really and "unhealthy" obsession. Or have I just fully adopted the bodybuilding lifestyle?

I'm the same exact way - no muscle - no play!!

WARNING:
Due to your height, I'd be VERY careful about gaining too much mass. Once guys your height start to get too broad and muscular, they can look kinda retarded. ....almost "cartoonish". I know you know the type, MD. Anyhow, if I was 5'6", I'd try to take advantage of its youth appeal and be as absolutley lean as possible.
You have a fantastic build right now...I wouldn't risk getting any bigger.
And for the record, I don't look beyond the face if that's not handsome.

You are not alone.
But I must say my obsession has taper off as I get older...
I always thought that my obsession with bodybuilder is cos there aren't that many gay (or str8 for that matter!) here who are that size. But there must be plenty at where you are. Why do you think you have that obsession?

I know... It kills me too.
Being limited as to how much I can grow just because of my height. Argh!
I don't want to look like a bulldog though.

I don't know... Since my early pubescent years I have been amazed by muscular male physiques. The more I grow old, the more I admire men with muscles. As you say though, soon it will have to taper off.

Height doesn't limit your size as much as bone structure does...
I, unfortunately, have much smaller bones, and am not as able to carry the weight as well as friends of mine...
Workout partner is 5'9", but packs 230 lbs and wears it well.....
180-190 seems to be my limit at 5'10".....

It's not a matter of ability, as much as a matter of will.
I can be as big as I like, I have increadibly good genetics; so much so that people have a hard time believeing I'm not juicing.
At my height, do I really want to weight 220 lbs.? As much as it pains me, not really... It would look very silly.

Not like I am qualified or should actually comment on other people's appearance but I will. You might want to stop at like 180. From my own experience, 180 made me look ridiculous thick and I am 5'8''. Unfortunately, us short folk waists started to thicken and it doesn't look good at all. One looks less like a triangle and more like box. Of course, you could say f*ck it, and build yourself in the manner of your choosing but I will be forward in saying it will dimmishing your physical attractiveness except to a few that are really into muscle. It limits your marketability.

I think the other factor is proportion. When majority of the weight is just on upper body, that would make one look pretty silly too.

Yea, you might be a somewhat obsessed.... Isn't everyone on this site? Obsession can be a positive as long as you're not hurting anyone, including yourself. What drives anyone to be successful in life? They will have a obsession for what they're doing.
If it's reflecting bad on your relationship, work, friends, family then you might want to take a step back and reevaluate what you're doing.
Bodybuilding is a slow progression, over years for most. Everyone of course wants to get big right away. Have patience, learn everything you can, grow and make sure to live your life outside the gym too.
Btw, you look mighty fine at 163!

that is the problem i find with being short--that i have a short waist so it limits the "V" shape to a degree. i have to do a lot of shoulder/upper body work to make-up for my short waist. i'd say my sweet spot is around 180-185, but i can do up to around 190/195 without looking too thick.

Muscles for LIFE
I'm 51 and have been obsessed with muscle for as long as I can remember. I don't think it diminishes with age at all! But then again, mine could be karmic...

I never realized you were 5'8", for some reason you struck me as being tall... Hmm...
Anyway, I know what you mean about the "V" shape... I've gained some thickness around my waist from working my obliques, which has contributed to give me the so-called adonis belt, to the detriment of the "V" shape.. Annyoing. I also focus a lot on delts and lats in order to attain higher upper body width.

Ohhh the funniest thing ever happened at the gym today.
So i was at the gym, working my ass off and this guy seriously were just cruising me HARD OUT. I finished my workout and proceed to the changing room and surprise, he followed me. At this point i was like, STRONG STALKER. So instead of the usual drop everything and walk naked to the shower room, i have to cover up when i remove my clothes. He didnt follow me to the shower, he was just sitting there watching me getting change. Anyway, i finished with the shower, came back to find a note in my locker. This is how the note goes, "Hey, i saw you at the club last friday, you are really sexy, i hope to see you there again this weekend, 021358138 if you want to hang out". At this point i was like, YAY I GOT A STALKER, then i trow the note away.
This really cute trainer came in and he was 2 lockers down, right where i trow the note to. He changed and then he picked up the note, the stalker returned and he was just sitting there watching me putting my clothes on. The trainer for some reason pick up the note and start reading it (he thinks it drop off his short). After reading it he has this big grin on his face and he called the number. The phone in the locker on the other side start ringing and at this point i was LAUGHING so hard. The stalker knew what happen and walked away, the trainer was freaking out about it being a guy (the expression on his face was PRICELESS). Ohhh i love it.
MD and Tvlr needs to party more. I need the report.

Lol....I'm on a party hiatus until NYE. Of course, that just means no circuit parties because from now until then, it is like one party after another.

I'm forever grateful that my gym has private showers. On occasion, I can feel a tinge of voyeurism or exhibitionism and at that time, I visit the local YMCA....which is so cruisy that it is officially noted in the Damron guide.

Oh, I've partied plenty lately... It's just that I don't share as much with you guys as I don't want to seem like a total crack-whore.
Let's see, my latest adventure was last weekend at fly, Tony Moran was spinning and as always he was ultra fierce. The place wasn't too packed (as it was Friday) but there were plenty of hotties and I love some extra room to dance. My boyfriend came in later (like at 4) when he finished working, and for some reason, seeing him made me much more happy that it usually does! I just wanted him to be there! He wasn't sure if he was coming after work, but he did and it made me happy and feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
Other warm fuzzy feeling of the night: The biggest party promoter in Toronto comes up to me and says: "You guys (your group of friends) are the hottest boys in Toronto right now, you always have such an amazing energy and look like you're having so much fun! I want to do a photo shoot with you guys for party flyers."
Now I don't mean to sound pretentious, but you can't understand what another 5 boys (my closest friends plus my boyfriend) and I look like and act on the dancefloor until you see us. People ALWAYS come up to us (if they dare approach us) and mention how hot and fun we are... We attract every other hot guy on the dancefloor and establish where the "hot corner" will be at the bar (usually in fron tof the DJ booth). Now, truth be told, we are all pretty good looking and all have pretty fierce bodies. How much we care for eachother and look out for eachother also shows tremedoulsy; we're very close and are always just having fun and flirting around... No drama! I guess people also like that.
Anyway, so the party ended, but we continued at my friend's place until about 10 am, at which point I started to come down and my legs made me feel like a total invalid given the vigorous dancing of the night preceding. Went home and relaxed for the rest of the weekend...
Next adventure and this IS actually and ADVENTURE will be the weekend coming up. Get this: we're driving to Montreal (5-6 hours) on Saturday morning to hear Offer Nissim (God) at Parking followed by local superstar Stephan Grondin at Stereo (Heaven). We'll be partying until about 10:00 am at which point we will relax and rest until about 1:00 pm on Sunday when we will hit the road back to Toronto. My boyfriend is one of the two designated drivers who will both still party but much less intensely.
