Question Is this routine ok for a beginner? Please read.

How is this for a beginner:

4 day split

Monday. Chest and Tris

Flat dumbell bench press 4 sets of 10 reps
incline dumbell bench press 4 sets of 10 reps
flyes 4 sets 10 reps
Tricep extensions, 4 sets of 10

Tuesday: Rest

Wednesday Leg Day/abs

leg press 4 sets of 10 reps
leg extensions 4 sets of 10 reps
Dumbell calf raises, 4 sets of 12
Ham curls on the machine 4 sets of 10 reps

Ab work consisting of 4 sets of 10 reps on the ab machine, 2 sets of 10 rep crunches and 2 ses of 10 leg raises

Thursday, shoulders

Seated overhead press. 4 sets of 10
lateral raises. 4 sets of 10
upright rows. 4 sets of 10
military press. 4 sets of 10

Friday Back and Biceps

Deadlifts 4 sets of 10
Bent over barbell rows 4 sets of 10
pullups (assisted if need be) 10 reps 4 sets
EZ bar curls 4 sets of 10 reps

Saturday: 30 mins low intensity cardio

Sunday: Rest

How is that? I might replace leg press with squats when ive built some better lower body strength. But is this an ok routine? Ive been doing a routine very simular to this for a week (this is jsut a better version) and im pretty sore so at last its using muscles i havnt used for a while.
I struggled a lot with the shoudler day (which was today). By the time i got to upright rows i struggled to lift any decent weight

Feedback would be appreicated.

As a beginner I would go for a FB routine. More info on the subject can be found here: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=998224

As a beginner I would say Rippetoes is way better than any split.

As a beginner I would start out with 3 sets of your exercises 8 to 12 reps. Not being able to get 13. And one of the biggest things you didn't mention you do, is stretching. stretch before, during and after to reduce your risk of injury. Stretching is the first thing a beginner of any exercise program should learn first. Happy lifting.

Heh, I agree with with above posters (full body or SS).

On another note, how the heck do you have 2K posts on this board and have no idea what routines are good for beginners? Just curious...
