Word! So yeah... sorry I havent posted the last two workouts from yesterday and today... been pretty preoccupied with school and personal life.

I test drove a 2005 Pontiac GTO yesterday and asked out my current g/f Both went very well lol.. and I'll most likely be buying the car next week!! wooo!

I'm going to the lake house for the weekend here soon and I'm going to get 10 hours of a sleep a night and get a welcome recouperation period for my muscles. God knows they need it.

Everyone have a great weekend and see you all on monday!

Week 2 of new routine

I have to make today's log quick for now because I have class soon... But... Overall the workout went really well!!

-Squats wider- 345lbs x 5 sets x 5 reps
(decently easy compared to last week, going up in weight next week.)

-Partial Straight Leg Deadlifts- 405lbs x 5 sets x 5 reps (way too easy compared to last week so I pushed it up to **465lbs** on a 6th set and forced out 5 reps pretty well.)

-Normal-Grip Chin-ups- Bodyweight x 4 sets x 18/14/12/12 reps

Superset of...
1. Rope Ab Pulldowns= 195lbs x 4 sets x 15 reps
&
2. Standing Calf Raises= 200lbs x 4 sets x 10-14 reps per set
(I really focused on pausing at the bottom and doing FULL COMPLETE contractions on every rep... it felt really good.)

Did a set of front squats for 25 reps with the 45lb bar for a cooldown on legs.

I was very suprised at how well I did on Deadlifts mostly. They shot up like crazy. Amazing how much a good amount of sleep can help you out!

Train hard!!

-Brian

Upper body

So today was a pretty good workout!! Overall the numbers didn't go up a ton because I was already on the heavy side on some of them, but reps went up for sure...

-Flat BB Bench Press- 295lbs x 5 sets x 5/5/5/5/4.5 reps
(needed a bit of help on the last one, finger touching help.)

-Bent-Over DB Shldr Raises- 40's x 3 sets x 10 reps

-Front DB Raises- 50's x 3 sets x 10 reps ( pretty easy )

-Standing DB Side Raises- 45's x 3 sets x 10 reps

-Cable Pushdowns- 200lbs x 5 sets x 10 reps (decently easy)

-Wide & Narrow Cable Curls- 160lbs x 5 sets x 10 reps

Everything went up somewhat from last week. I was mostly impressed with my bench.. My form was a lot more solid than last week and still got more reps than last week also and didn't have to step down in weight on the last set or two. Great pumps too

Leg/Back day lighter

So last night and today I started to get a sore/scratchy throat, so I took every precaution I could and started popping cough drops and taking 1-2 "airborne" tablets every 4-6 hours... Also this morning I downed some Dayquil and after that and a decent night's sleep I started to feel better. I didn't want to skip today's workout so I went in and did what I could, and my numbers were pretty good

-Freemotion deep Squats- 400lbs x 5 sets x 15 reps
(really deep burn... lmao.)

-Normal Stance Leg Press- 465lbs x 4 sets x 10 reps

-Chest-supported Rows- 290lbs x 4 sets x 10 reps
(this is the row machine where you just throw actual plates on the machine for resistance, so 290lbs is full plate weight)

-Hyperextensions- 70DB held on chest x 4 sets x 10 reps

** Workout went really well and on the machines / exercises that weren't already maxed out; I stepped up the weight and pushed hard despite maybe being sick. Definitely a good workout. **

Train hard

Brian

Still sick :(

So I'm still having this cold/sore throat today... and I don't want to overtrain. I went into the gym to do my workout today anyway, because the next two days are off days. I'll use those days to recover... The scheduled workout called for doing shoulder press and flat bench press with dumbbells on a medicine ball, BUT... It hurt my anterior delts and rotators really bad so I decided to do normal shoulder press ( after my shoulders already were hurting) and flat bench without the ball. My numbers could have all been higher today, but I didn't want to over-stress my body...

Here's today's numbers...

-Flat DB Bench- 90's x 4 sets x 12 reps

-DB Shoulder Press- 70's x 4 sets x 10 reps (easy)
( I lowered the weight a lot because my shoulders were really hurting from doing 2 sets of db bench on the medicine ball. I usually do 85's or 90's for 10 reps.)

-Conc. 1 arm Curl- 50's x 4 sets x 12 reps

-1-arm Tri Extension- 40's x 4 sets x 12 reps
(focused on form)

-1 arm Mach. Row- 125lbs per arm x 3 sets x 15 reps ( pretty easy )

Anywho, next two days are off days and I'll need them to get better. I'll post again on tuesday

Pushing Forward: Back/Legs

Today was my first day back after my being sick and two day break! It went really well. Only downside was the number of chin-ups I did on my second through fourth sets. My arms die pretty quickly when I only take 1.5 min breaks between chin-up sets.

Here's the numbers...!

-Semi-Wide Squats- 350lbs x 5 sets x 5 reps
(+5lbs over last week and still had more in me!)

-Stiff-leg Partial Deadlifts- 475lbs x 5 sets x 5 reps
(also not too horrible )

-Shoulder Width Grip Chin-Ups- Body x 4 sets x 20/10/9/8 reps

SUPERSET OF...
1. Standing Calf Raises= 210lbs x 5 sets x 8-12 reps (also up over last week)
W/
2. Rope Abs and Dec. bench abs

** oVerall it was a great workout and I also did some front squats and 1 armed rows for a cooldown on my legs and back.

~~I start my last 3 week segment of my 12 week routine after this week. I'm really excited because it includes weighted dips... and I love those more than anything haha! THanks for reading!

Wednesday's workout

I'm kind of depressed that I don't have an arm strap for my Ipod yet, which was making it a pain to hold around as I worked out today... Also realized that I just ran out of Torrent and weight gainer, and I'm almost out of white flood... Major downside to all of this is that I don't have a lot of extra money this month due to buying my ipod, and I have to wait 10 more days until I can use my credit card and not have the supps come on my next bill...

ANYWAY... Here's today's workout.

-Flat BB Bench Press- 295lbs x 5 sets x 5 reps
( didn't need any help today )

-B/O DB Lateral Raise- 40's x 3 sets x 10 reps

-Front DB Raises- 50's x10 for 2 sets // 55's x10 for 1 set

-Standing 1-arm Side Raises- 50's x 3 sets x 10 reps

-Cable Tri-Pushdowns- 205lbs x 5 sets x 10 reps

-Cable Close & Wide Curls- 165lbs x 5 sets x 10 reps

**Overall pretty good workout. Everything improved I would write more but I have to work in 30 minutes haha.. Have a good one everyone.

Sorry I haven't been updating the last 2 days guys.. I did workout today and yesterday and both workouts went great with no setbacks!! I've just been really busy. I start a new 3-week segment of my total 12 week routine ( the last 3 weeks of the routine ) I'm really excited to get it going. I'll most likely use of the two next off days to hit calves hard and do some forearm/abdominal work.

New exercises today!

So today was the 3-week routine, the last one of my 12-week total routine. My numbers were pretty good overall and I am exhausted... Not looking forward to closing tonight at work Anyway, here's the numbers!

-Sled Squat- 820lbs x 5 sets x 5 reps
(almost **** myself on last set)

-Straight Leg Full Deadlifts- 455 on first 2 sets for 5 reps... 425x5 on last 3 sets.

Wide-Grip Pulldowns(on Freemotion machine)= 200lbs(max on machine) for 4 sets of 10 reps per arm.

*At the end I did some ab stuff and 4 sets of calves. (In my blog on my bodyspace; I also did a lighter workout on an off day. It's listed in there.)

SLed Squats are the ones where you are sitting down and you push the weight up towards the ceiling; as opposed to hack squats, where it's the same exact machine, just opposite motion.

After these 3 weeks, I'll probably take 1 week rest ( most likely only 5 days since I hate taking that long of a break.) Then I'll go back into my first week routine of the 12 week routine. Hopefully my numbers keep going up from when I did week one last.. if so, then I'll keep grinding out on this routine!

Long hard workout

Today's workout took a long @$$ time and was pretty exhausting. Despite my not eating enough lately, I'm still getting good numbers out...

Here's today's workout......

-Weighted Dips- Body+140lbs x 3 sets x 5 reps AND... 135+ for 2 sets of 5

-Side DB Raises- 45's x 3 sets x 10 reps
(Went a bit light on these to keep form up and allow myself to do more weight on my next exercise)

-BB Shoulder Press- 205lbs x 4 sets x 10 reps

-DB Preacher Curls- 55 per hand x 5 sets x 10 reps
SUPERSETTED WITH...
-Cable Tri Pushdowns- 210lbs x 5 sets x 10/10/10/10/7 reps
(last set on tri's was hard. But it's 5lbs more than last week.)

**overall it was a great workout! I think I'll keep the dips at 135+ body to work on form more and try to push up everything else by 5lbs minus the pushdowns. Thanks for reading

F*ckin sick...

So, I was supposed to be working out yesterday and today... But I somehow ****ing caught a cold, and it's worse than most colds I get. I figured with how I was feeling last night, that i'd wake up today ready to lift again... that was blown out the window when I woke up with my throat closed up again, cant swallow, head completely congested, whenever I swallow or talk or chew my right ear gets a lot of pressure on it and it hurts really bad.

Point being I'm really pissed off that I can't workout yet and it's driving me nuts. I'm doing everything I can to try and get better faster... I"ll post more updates asap.

ugghh, that sucks man, sorry to hear that. I've been through that twice already this year, luckily it wasn't as bad as what you've got, and I was able to grind through my workouts. get better soon

Thanks man... I'm trying to... I have to go to the doctor tomorrow to see if i have an inner ear infection or what not... I'm going to use this as my excuse to take a week off of lifting since I've already missed four days... That way I can just push back into it hard and strong after I'm better! Wish me luck haha.

Just an update... I'm still somewhat sick.. I hope to be back lifting by friday or saturday.. I have an inner ear infection and still have some lingering cold/flu symptoms so I'm laying low right now. Thanks for checking in everyone.

Another update for everyone... My cold is completely gone, but the antibiotics as of now don't seem to be kicking in yet to get rid of this ear infection. I'm afraid with the intensity of weight training that the pressure exerted on my ear may not be good with the infection. hopefully I can get back into the gym on monday and tuesday because I dont work those nights.

Well, I went back into the gym today finally... I was happy with the results, but I only did about half to 2/3 of what my normal workout would have been... I don't want to rush back into it and be way sore for a week. So I will do half of all my workouts for this week and work back into them next week.

Today I did chest/shoulders/arms

Weighted Dips= Body + 125lbs (25lb plates) x 5 reps x 3 sets
(planned on doing 5 sets, but on the 4th my ****ing belt broke and I had to do 2 sets of decline DB bench press with 100lb DB's in each hand for 14 reps per set.)

Chin-Ups= Body x 2 sets x 12 reps

1 arm Side Raises= 50lbs per side x 2 sets x 10 reps

BB Shoulder Press= 210lbs x 2 sets x 10 reps

1 arm DB Preacher Curls= 55lbs per arm x 3 sets x 10 reps

Cable Pushdowns= 210lbs x 3 sets x 10 reps

Did some cooldown sets on chest fly machine too to keep chest pumped up after the workout. All the numbers were the same or higher than 2 weeks ago so that's a good sign Watch me be really sore tomorrow.
