Week 129 :: What Are Some Grocery Shopping Tips For A Bodybuilder?

------------------------------------------------------------
* Note: How can I win? 1. Answer all questions in the order that they are asked. 2. Go over reviews (located at the bottom of past TOTW articles) and see what was said about those that did not win. Good Luck!

TOPIC: What Are Some Grocery Shopping Tips For A Bodybuilder?

For the week of: June 27th - July 3rd
Tuesday @ Midnight Is The Final Cut (Mountain Time, US & Canada).

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Proper diet is one of the most important aspects of bodybuilding, so it makes sense that a bodybuilder would flip out if they saw that their refrigerator was empty. I guess it?s time to grab the weekly circulars and prepare for the supermarket.

What are some grocery shopping tips for a bodybuilder?

What are some good aisles/foods for a bodybuilder?

How can a bodybuilder be sure he bought food that will meet his nutritional needs?

-------------------------------------------------------------

* New Rule (beginning: June 1st, 2006): Any exercise not listed on our exercise listing (http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/exercises.htm) must be accompanied by a full and complete description and pictures (or a link to the exercise(s) where pictures and description are given).

Thanks.

Don't discuss any other topic in this section. ONLY discuss the question above.

The best response will get $75 in credit to use in our online store! The other good responses will be used in an article on the main Bodybuilding.com site, with the poster's forum name listed by it. Become famous!

Thanks,
Will

Well without taking too much time.... There are just 2 simple tips for a bodybuilder to know:

EVERYTHING you need to eat is lined up on the PERIMETER of the supermarket, if you go down an isle, you're buying manufactured products. The only reason to go down an isle is for "bread" and "tunafish" that's all. sometimes bread and tuna are actually outside the perimeter.... good luck because you have about 15 mins from when you complete your shopping before subconsciously, you pick up an impulse buy.... buyer beware!

If you think about it: dairy, meat, veggies, fruits, bread, fish can ALL be found on the perimeter of the store... don't go down isles for food. You go to a thrift shop for paper plates/cups/toilet tissue...etc.

I absolutely agree with the reply above mine!!! Bodybuilding requires lots and lots and LOTS of food!! You can find all of the healthy food around the sides of the grocery store. Anything thats in the isles or that is boxed/prepackaged is NOT the best choice. Getting your calories from good solid nutritionally packed food is your best bet for bodybuilding and overall health : ) Note: this is the most expensive part of the grocery store as well so buy in bulk and stock up! Its a sacrifice as far as doling out money for healthy food but its the best investment anyone could make, in my opinion.

I totally agree, also people need to learn how to read nutritional labels on foods, you'd be surprised how many people come into the gym and ask me questions on that. there are many products @ your local walmart or grocery store for example, ground turkey is 97% fat free and per every 4 oz. and is 22 grams of protein. So #1 pound is $1.75 and contains 88grams per tube. Cut it into two peices and have two meals for $1.75. Pretty affordable? And 44 grams per meal.

Smile Quick Tip

That is one of the rules I try to follow as well, " Always show the Perimeter of the store, never go into the aisle , that is where all the junk is". Just a quick simple rule.

XOXO
