Loose skin and fat deposits
Within the last year or so i've gone from 360+ to just under 250. My problem is I have huge fat deposits w/loose skin around the stomach and chest area. I know I still have more fat to lose but the fat around my midsection and chest is def. disproportionate w/ the rest of my body. I mean wearing a beater I look like a solid, muscular dude, but when the shirt comes off its like an avalanche of fat....anybody have the same problem?

Unfortunately all you can do is keep cutting the fat. It'll come off. As far as the skin goes, hopefully you are young enough to where the loose skin will not be a problem for you. The older you get, the less elasticity it has.

well u can look at DJohnson and a couple other people and see that once u have zapped 100% of your bodyfat away that your skin looks normal. or 95% normal.
the problem is getting lean enough to do that. most people that say they have loose skin ....still have a considerable amount of fat to lose before it is just skin. So get super ripped then possibly look into a tummy tuck. I have been trying to get super lean for a long time and i finally think i have found away to lose more fat.....still a while before ripped or toned.......haha.
I will say that not everyone can have great results like DJohnson but i would think most could.....
7evens. u are a freaking tank from the waist up..looks like bodybuilding must be in ur genes. i would guess that you could change your body to where u wouldnt need a tummy tuck.

if you have alot of deep stretch marks there is a good chance its loose skin but if you dont its just fat that needs to be burned off.hopefully its the latter

I been reading alot of things and one article i read from a big dude was that he ate for his skin, he nourished it so that he didnt get loose skin.
So eating foods that are good for the skin seems like something to do while losing the weight, its what im going to do.
Its like i got a gut and what not, i weigh in at 320 lbs but im as athletic as it gets for abig dude, kinda like Bettis, i can move, i can lift like a bear, do cardio etc...all of these things ive done my whole life, i just hope that with going nice and slow and steady with my training, eating the right foods, drinking tons of water, will get everything back in place the way its meant to be.
But i think eating for the skin really sounds pretty good to be honest, sounds reasonable to me and sounds like something that would help a person to prevent looser skin.

Prescription retin-A might help you if used long term. It prevents collagen from breaking down which helps tighten up skin. It kind of sucks for me, I'm not near as badly overweight as a lot of people, but I have more stretch marks than a lot of people who weighed 500 lbs+. Stretch marks represent a huge loss of elasticity which is not easily repairable. I have no idea how my skin will look when I am done. I have no loose skin at all right now but I have about 50 lbs to lose.

there is a reason my avatar cuts off just above the nipples, cause it's all downhill from there.

Congratulations on your weight loss! Does it not feel great getting that extra weight off? Being patient while the loose skin shrinks is better than early surgery for problems that are able to shrink on their own.
Loose Skin After Weight Loss depends on many factors. For some the skin is actually damaged by being stretched out too far. For others, they just have elastic tissue that does not rebound well. A more gradual loss of weight seems much better than rapid weight loss. Shorter periods of distension tend to do better. Pregnancy stretched skin retracts better than someone overweight for years. Young skin shrinks better than older skin.
After weight loss, the skin can take some time to catch up. This can take from 6 months to 18 months.
I have recently added new resources to show the distortion of loose skin. Check out these photographs of a young woman after massive weight loss. Move your cursor over the small images to see how much loose skin she had. Look at the different views of her lifting the drooping skin before surgery by checking the different tabs on top. The movies on that page show the problem even better than the pictures.
During surgery, she had very little fat remaining after the weight loss. The distortion was skin and lost support.
Other patients going through massive weight loss tighen their skin just fine. Each reacts individually.
The main issue is that the added fat and weight are not healthy. Get down to a fat percent or weight you feel better with and then wait to see how the skin shrinks. If not surgery, then body shaping compression garments can help to a degree.
Tummy Tuck Abdominoplasty can deal with localized loose skin.
More extensive loose skin problems need to consider more global options such as body lift surgery.
Take your time to go beyond the first page for each section. The pictures and movies for each patient really show the problem and surgical sculpture solution.
Here is another patient with folds of loose extra skin after massive weight loss.
Compression garments are an option for those trying to stabilize their tissues during exercise while losing weight or waiting for the skin to stabilize. I have just added a resource about compression vests showing pictures of patients with and without the vests. These results are with no surgery for patients having issues about their body contours, but were not ready for plastic surgery sculpture.
You can see actual examples of Compression Chest Contouring Without Surgery for different types of gynecomastia here:
Compression Contouring After Massive Weight Loss
Garment for Body Builder with Gyno
Garment During Endocrine Stabilization
Body Shaping for Puffy Nipples
Body Shaping Compression Contouring for Overweight Male - This one shows the Black Vest in use.
Body Shaper Compression Garment for Severly Obese Male
Which Color Vest Looks Best?
Vests DO NOT remove the gynecomastia or puffy nipples, but many have told me that they feel much more confident while losing weight, exercising, or awaiting their medical problem to stabilize.
Check out the multiple views for each patient. Clink on the links to see other views of the garment and features of this design I prefer. We have been working with other garments for the stomach, thighs, buttocks but those resources are not yet up on the website.
Hope this helps,
Michael Bermant, MD

Looks like I will have loose skin... I have stretch marks all over the place arms, other side of elbow(?), stomach, back, sides. Makes the whole thing seem like a big pain and not even worth the time if I am not even going to be happy when I lose the weight. I should stop reading these loose skin threads...

Don't let it get to you too much. I have the same stretch mark problem as you (about 2/3 of my upper body). They're always going to be there, but they'll fade and become much less noticeable. You're probably going to have some loose skin issues, that's the reality, but it is still 100% worth it. Even with loose skin you will look way better than having a ton of fat. You will also be much healthier. And when you're out in public at least 95% of the time you will be wearing a shirt, the skin issues won't be noticeable to anyone. You'll look like your average healthy guy.
Your skin will also retract much better than you think it will. Once you start to see some good muscle definition you start to forget about the skin issues.

went from 250 to 168lbs
then bulked jackedness to 195...
um... 10ish percent body fat and trust me it gets seriously nasty if i sit. but im tall and lengthy and it plays harsh on my self esteem.
working hard to speako to doctors
of course ill go on a crash cut before i see him to get the most out. but my tire wont go away and the only way its bareable is if i cut fluids in my body and its weird cause i get veins out of my abs lower and 4 upper abs but then this nasty a$$ tire is still left there.
messed up
nothing u can do. they say lower ur body fat but... i try my hardest... skin is skin and cannot be fixed.

Loose tissues sometimes only compensate after major weight loss. Plastic Surgery After Losing Weight can help with the many different components of hanging tissues.
The male chest after weight loss can have sagging or ptosis. Male Mastopexy Chest Lift can help contour the deformity of hanging tissues. Options for surgery depend on the extent of the problem. In general, lower body drooping should be corrected first with Tummy Tuck Abdominoplasty or Lower Body Lift.
Losing weight before surgery is typically better than weight loss after. Skin can take 6 months or longer to equilibrate after massive weight loss. Non-surgical Body Sculpting Garments can provide an emotional support until ready for surgery.
We help patients explore their concerns and options during consultations or our Preliminary Remote Discussion.
Hope this helps,

I am also in this boat, and I definitely would like to know if there are any other alternatives in terms of working out and what not before having to LAST RESORT to any type of surgeries...I've lost over 100 lbs over almost two years come May 1 this year, and I have also put on the mass (I think) that I would like to before I officially start to cut...I definitely welcome any advice PLEASE! LOL
