I didnt win.
Hey girls
Just got back from my competition (A Miss USA state pageant) and I didnt win.
I hate talking about people like this, but I feel like **** so here goes,
The winner is a dog. And this was her first pageant. Its hard to know that someone who knows nothing about a subject wins, when there are people like me who are so obsessed, in love with, study it and just plain know everything there is to know about pageantry and still not win. It effing blows. I mean, does this mean I am ugly? I know it doesnt, but it just makes me think about the judges and what they see in these girls.
It is also discouraging to know that you have worked all year for this one day and not get recognition for it. I mean, every year that I have competed in this pgeant, I have thought about it each day. I think, "What can I do today to better myself in the direction of Miss XXXXX". I read anything there is to read about my competitors, judges and the pageant itself. I know this top to bottom, inside and out.
I have won a ton of competitions before, but its this one that seems to defeat me each year, and this is the only one that really matters. Everything else is a small battle, that each time I win, but I just cant seem to win the war.
I am posting this here because I know that most of you are competitors yourselves, in some way or another. I come to this board to support me in my physical journey to the crown, which, to me, is the most difficult. I believe that there are a lot more women out there who feel this way, and I just needed to get it out in the open.
So thanks for the free therapy!
P.S. Theres always next year!

Theres quite a lot of you women lifters, you should all get together, get a DVD cam and make a documentary and sell it for thousands of $$$$'s to a T.V. network.

That is disappointing... I'm so sorry.
It sucks so let yourself feel it for a few days. You have to feel the disappointment to acknowledge it. Then shake it off as experience and jump right back on the horse for next year.
Good luck, hon!

sorry to hear your news, but it doesnt not mean youre not gorgeous...
Just last week I went to a comp where the sportsmodel trophy was taken by a very UNattractive girl, I dont know why, and there were a lot of surprised faces in the crowd, this girl was, well, more like a horse than a woman, (Im sure she had a great personality and all, but she was no inspiration to me) so I think the judges see things differently to us.
I have had a look at your profile and I think you look great, who knows why you didnt win, but im sure if the girl that won has as unattractive as she sounds, you weren't the only one who was disgusted.
Good luck for the future, I know it's hard, especially as a female, but dont take it too personally.
Im glad you used this forum to vent, its good to hear honest opinions like yours.

You can call the promoter of the show and ask for the score cards. Also its good to talk to the judges after the show ask them what areas are your good point and ones that you need to work on. That seems to be the only way you will know what you need to improve for the next year. Its all subjective and we as competitors must remember that. Plus if your are competing in the same show the judges expect to see improvement each year you compete if you are not showing improvement they are less likely to reward you. (please dont take offense since I do not know why but just giving my opinion on the situation.) You have to keep your head up and know that you did get up there to compete and that takes alot of dedication and love for it.

Well, the good thing is that they dont have the same judges each year. This is my philosophy on judges:
A lot of times the judges are people like sportswriters, lawyers, and maybe one previous titleholder. I have noticed that these are the years when the unexpected girl wins, like this year.
Other years, when there are judges like current titleholders, etiquette masters, beauticians and pageant coaches, they choose the girl who is best, and usually, she places at nationals!
Dont states want their girls to do well at nationals? Have they not noticed this?
I know I improve each year, too. Each year I "eat" so much info on pageants its not funny. This may be wierd, but its an obsession. I just love it! And I cant seem to feed the beast to where it would be full, so I try to find every morsel of info to better myself each year, and I know its working. I win all the small pageants, but its this one that beats me each year.

I get bored and some women do lift weights here, why are you posting here? Think your going to score or what? I bet you do, i'm gonna read your previous posts and i bet theres a lot of "OOOOOHHHH, dont worry i'm sure this and that will be ok ..." when in fact, WTF do you knowabout womens bbing?
Me, i know enough to know you havent got a muscle in sight, seems you might be a good match for this woman who tries to rally up support to call someone a dog and not think that the winner might read this, may have kids who read it or a mom and dad....
sorry if i went on a bit, well i was bored ... happy posting while i check out your previous posts

Lets get things strait, just in case you didnt read the two previous posts or my profile. This is a Miss USA state pageant, FYI, not a bodybuilding pageant. These are MISS women, meaning, never married, never had children. So dont worry about innocent people getting hurt, k? ALso, this forum isnt just forum bodybuilders, its also for those interested in lifting weights and fitness in general. You havent notice that not everyone here is a bodybuilder?
This post was a vent in frustration of all of my hard work. I'm sure lots of other women AND men have felt the same way, in different situations, whether it be a BODYBUILDING competition, sports game, spelling bee. . . .
PS I have my own opinion on how someone looks. I thought she was ugly! I think a lot of people are ugly! It doesnt mean I think less of them, just means I think they shouldnt win BEAUTY pageants.

Well, maybe the judges thought she was beautiful and you were ugly. Everyone has their own version of beauty. That's why I don't like beauty contests. What one culture or person thinks might be the most beautiful thing ever, another culture and person might think is ugly.

Since you don't seem too bright allow me to educate on a few things.
The Miss USA pageant is not a bodybuilding comp.
This website caters to people of all kinds of diffrent categories. Not everybody here is a want to be bodybuilder such as yourself. Most people just want to get in shape and look good.
As far your theory of me trying to score here. That's funny coming from somebody who is trying to get at Chicken Tuna.
Go ahead and read my posts, maybe you will learn something. (doubtful)

I'm sorry you didn't win. Although I've never competed in anything like the competions you have, I realise it is gutting when you've worked so hard for something and don't achieve what you want and feel you deserve.
But... I'm a little concerned about how easily people seem to call others ugly here.
I think there is a whole lot more to beauty than being aesthetically pleasing with perfectly groomed hair, face etc. It should also be about personality and a whole lot more. I feel it is perhaps a little mean to be refering to these other competitors as ugly. Also, how do we know that they really didn't deserve to win. I'm sure a lot of people in most competitions want it as bad as the rest of us and feel they too have worked as hard. In fact it must be a lot harder for the less pleasing on the eye to win such competitions.
Each to their own when it comes to these things but I think ones time would be much more constructively spent doing some good in the world.
There's more to life than 'beauty'.

What makes a first place? Sweeite it's more than looks....you can take someone who has a great body and is stunning and you know what -- she doesn't have that 'presence' on stage...now I am not saying this is you. But I have seen many a comp (and come to 2nd place finsihes myself) and sometimes it's the best poser, personality etc that takes the prize...honeslty, it is about attitiude, positivity and all that jazz-- the whole package.
So if you have a video of the comp, look at it, study it....watch the winner and top placers and figure out what they did---their clothing selection, posing, individual flare...honestly, that is at times what makes the difference.
Good luck and sweetie, keep your head up, being down on yourself is no way to re-focus for next year.

For someone who cares about "pretty" so much, you are not acting so "pretty" and a bit catty to me.
Trust me, what you put out there you get. I know, I am a former model and I want to teach my daughter that looks are some of the equation but being a beautiful person is more important. Regardless of whether you believe it, you have to behave graciously and beautifully to be perceived as such.
If you believe in philosophies such as "the law of attraction" etc...you need to behave as if you are beautiful.
That's my two cents.

You people are taking this way too seriously. Everybody has their own opinion, and I respect that, but honestly I wrote this out of frustration the night that the competition ended. I didnt win and I accept that. I was sure there would be people here that have felt the same way and been to the same place.
Its over and get over it! I am!

im not taking it seriously
I am just finding it interesting that's all.
I find it very interesting that you feel in the position to say someone else who did better than you shouldn't have won because they were 'ugly'. Obviously the judges didnt think so.
If you get up on stage and participate in these events surely you need to be prepared for that. Unless you honestly think you are the most stunning gorgeous women in the world, you are not going to win everytime.
Maybe you didn't win because you weren't the best? maybe the judges thought you were ugly?
Happens with me in sport, I thought I was better than someone and they got picked in a team ahead of me. Took the time to revalute and realised I had to work on certain skills.
Much better to do that than get bitter about the other girl being picked.
but anyway if it was just a vent who cares?
