Dog and Imus each made racists comments so in that respect there is no difference. Once again, people are taking the use of that word and thinking he was applying it as if the race was what he had objection to. I think racism is not acceptable (for like the fifth time) personally...but I refuse to hear that he used a racial slur and just make up my mind about him without trying to look into the story anymore. When we're pissed off or hyperemotional, we say and do irrational things...it just so happened that the person was of color, and that combination resulted in a racial slur. Like I said before, I'm not so quick to judge someone and label them based off of one moment of weakness. I am keeping in mind what Dog was angry about. It appears all YOU are focusing on was that he said a racial slur, and not the emotions or motivations behind it. Part of the problem exists in the culture of that racial slur trying to spin it into a positive connotation. That's also not acceptable. When you take a word that has a negative connotation and try to spin it/use it in a positive context, all you do is increase ambiguity within our language, and increase the risk of people getting offended by the use of what is meant to be a rather indiginfied insult.

Actually, yes. IF you can make it funny...i'll laugh. Paul Mooney is able to do it and make MOST people laugh. The only ones that get upset aren't really upset but looking for a reason to 'reverse' things and have their chance at being able to call someone racist. I really doubt there's any reall offense taken. So yes, if Carland*spell check* or some white comedian makes a racial jokes towards blacks that makes you stop, go 'hrmm, he's not far off' and it's funny. I'll laugh. Yes.
