i had the same type of hernia.... the main exercises i wouldnt do are

squats
deadlifts
anything standing (standing curls, bent over rows, etc...)

You are still able to do flat bench, shoulder press, tris... seated bi's... back... pretty much most exercises. What i did was i dropped the weights, upped the reps, and shortened my rest periods. For example, i was doing 3 plates bench 6-8 reps for 4 sets with 2-3 minute breaks between sets, I switched to 2 plates bench 12-15 reps for 4 sets and only 1-2 minute breaks. I pretty much did the same for all other exercises. You will lose strength but i still kept the pump and size

My young friend, my suggestion is that you layoff from lifting at this time because if you don't there is a good possibility that you may enlarge your hernia. Why would you want to do that to yourself? IMO try to get the hernia surgical repair scheduled earlier so that you can return to training.

thanks for the advice im going to try it out and see how it goes.i think its just going to be a case of me training on days when the hernia isn't irritating me.im going to try and cut down on explosive movements.i tryed lifting weights the other day with a low tempo and i was fine.but im definitely not going 2 be doing the excercises you mentioned thats just asking for trouble

i agree with you completely but the waiting lists in ireland are crazy.my brother has to wait 8 months to get a kidney operation(not serious) and its looking like im going to be waiting at least 4 months.sadly enlarging my hernia may be the only way to get a quick operation.im not saying im setting out to enlarge thats just the way it is.im going to be very careful and if i feel im doing serious damage i will stop.
