Anyone help out a 14 year old newbie?
Hey!
Well, as the title says, I am 14 and I am new to this. I am quite toned all over and I wanted to gain some muscle mass.
Sadly, my dad doesn't believe in buying weights for a reason he doesn't want to tell me. So could anyone help me work my whole body without the aid of weights of equipment?
I will post some pics later on to show you what your working with.
By the way, I am naturally quite thin as you can see from this:
BMI: 16
Height: 5ft 9"
Weight: 102lbs

WTF... eat food
ask your dad why he won't let you train with weights, it's most probably because he's ignorant, if thats the case, do some research and educate him

Well without weights, your pretty limited but doesn't mean you can't do any exercises
-Lunges
-Pull Ups (get a pullup bar in your door panel)
-Push Ups
-Sit Ups
-Leg lifts
I'm not gnna tell u when to do these exercises.
If you want to bulk your gonna have to start eating a lot, but it is gnna be hard to workout without a gym. The best thing to do would be to get a gym membership.

Tank you for the post, you are on the great site to ask this question, now i will try to help you. Ok first, if you dont have any thing to help you to train like dumbels start to makes some push ups, dips, chin ups and many abs variation. And start to eat a lot of protein and carbs, you will need it to gain mass. You will need to have a great cardio. So eat, lift and sleep a lot to be big. Train yourself like 1h for 4 times a week in this exercises + 3 times of ruining like 30 - 60 minutes. And that will help you.

FYI, I believe you are in no position to comment on my diet. We don't eat chips/crisps/fries in our house. My diet is amazingly healthy and I get more than enough fruit a day.
I have a 2 course breakfast everyday of cereal and two pieces of toast, a lunch of the same size and a dinner of freshly made indian food from my mum with a portion of salad. I also drink 3 glasses of milk minimum a day and have tons of fruit just because it tastes nice.
Despite me not mentioning this, you still cannot pass judgement...

Hey matrixboy123, if you're looking for stuff you can do without having weights, there's lots you can do!
You can do standing calf raises--all you need is some steps.
You can get plastic milk jugs or something similar and fill them with sand or water and use them to do bicep curls and tricep extensions and pullovers and maybe even bench press (if you've got a piano bench or some type of flat bench or even a brick wall that you can lay on the top of).
You can use those same jugs to do tricep kickbacks and bent-over rowing.
You can tie a filled milk jug to a piece of rope and then tie the other end of the rope to a small stick and use that for wrist/forearm exercises--twist the stick to wind the rope around it and raise and lower the milk jug that way.
If you find a bench of some sort to lay on you can use the same jugs for chest flyes.
You can use them for bent-over lateral raises, front shoulder raises, shrugs, maybe pretty much anything you might use a dumbbell for.
You can hold them while you do lunges--either stationary or walking lunges--and standing calf raises (for extra resistance) and you can even do deadlifts or stiff-legged deadlifts and maybe even some type of squats with them.
See if you can find a pullup bar that you can put in a doorway--if not, then find a swingset someplace where you can reach the top bar and use that for pullups.
It might help if you can find a copy of the Home Workout Bible, published by the folks at Men's Health magazine--the entire first section is devoted to workouts where you don't have any equipment at all, just things around the house.
I think you're only as limited as your imagination will take you!

get a pullup bar, rig somthing up in your closet door to do chins or something like that... get a rope and hang it over a pullup bar and attach weights to it... maybe your backpack filled with all your books, attach your backpack to the rope and then over the bar and make some kind of handle to make some kind of lat pulldown machine/tricep extension pulley system.. get some kind of nylon rope so it will slide on the metal easier... and get a thick rope so it doesn't stretch when you add weight to it....put some kind of metal washers on the pullup bar on each side of the rope so the rope isnt sliding all over the place... should cost about 10 dollars to make.. that and pushups with your feet high up on a chair with weights around your neck or something...
curls with your backpack loaded with books "dumbell" military presses with your backpack... lay on your back on a park bench and bench two backpacks loaded with books...
stuff like that i guess
