Should I keep track of...

The amount of reps and more importantly, weight I do when I do sets? My cousin does this and I'm wondering if I should do this...
Cause when I go to the gym, I don't record the weight I'm using.. I just make sure I work the hell outa that muscle...

Is the keeping track of thing more for motivation more then making sure you keep on increasing the weight?

And do the pros do the keeping track of weights and reps thing?

Keeping track of your lifting is a method of motivation.
It lets you see the progress you're making.
It also can help let you know what is working, and what isnt.

I've been using a workout log for 4 months.
It's very helpful.

i like keeping track of everything so i can make sure i go up in weight or reps every week. i used to just keep track in my head but would forget here and there so its just easier to write it down

Setting goals on your compound lifts work well too, i dont keep a log, i just set a goal like....

3x8 with 90lb dumbbells is my current goal, about 2 weeks ago i was at 65lb dbs, im doing 3x8 with 75lb ones now (No brag just example)

I do that with squats, bent over bb rows, bench, the mains lifts basically...

Definately, i made a big mistake by not taking my reps and weights down. When i changed my diet i couldnt figure out what i was doing right before because i hadnt noted anything. Now i take a log to the gym with me and i know exactly what i have to lift before each and every set to beat the last workout.
