geez on the deads! great job! I did them today for the first time (135 lbs) and I didn't know I had some of these muscles!
You have come so far since you started, and when I have a bad day I think about you and several other people on here that have done what I'm trying to do. My goals seem unattainable sometimes, but seeing your progress lets me know that it is attainable if I work hard. Thank you for being an inspiration to me (and many others I'm willing to bet).
A personal reminder: "If you're obese, it's because you're not doing it right. When one of you comes back after two weeks with no weight loss it's because you're eating too much. "Oh DSUP! I was just so hungry and I couldn't help it!" Well then, admit that you're weak and stay fat. Just don't complain about it. If you want to stop being fat, get strong!" ~DSUP

Ya? I never really know if they are high, average or crappy...I go to a college gym with a free weight room full of young men. I lift with guys so..I really never know how I am doing. I would love to see more definition and size in the upper legs. this is wear I carry some fat still and I want it gone. skinny does not matter...muscle does.

You're doing incredible. What are you taking in school, good for you btw...I went back full time a few years ago, hard with having the boys, but so worth it.
My diet is sucking big time. Help....I quit smoking a week ago, and I just cannot get the snacking under control!!!

big changes on the horizon for me...
oldest son is getting married in july and moving off to college with his bride (hour away from mommy)
youngest son is going to switch to a new school closer to mommy's college
move out of the boonies...move into town next to college
frankly I am scared to death...
not sure if I am strong enough to do what needs to be done.....
just keep telling myself to prepare for whatever is coming..get ready

strength comes in many forms ya know...though I am convinced that being strong physically only helps you to become stronger emotionally, mentally and be able to handle the things you need to in your life..
Ren...just remember I too started out just benching, squating and deadlifting the 45lb bar with no weights on it..

I'm learning that
What did you start at when you began benching? How long did it take before you noticed increased strength?

bench sucks for me...it is by far my weakest lift...but this is true for most women.
I always kind of figured that since I was so heavy-chested then I must have some muscle under da boobz...wrong
umm when I first sat down on that bench for the first time was...this past august. I lifted only the 45lb bar..and that was hard!
I also began doing butterflies, and pec/dec flies and a standing up one called the iron cross to try to assist my chest muscle development. I came on this site and asked opinions on how to improve on this and was asked where it is I am struggling with when I bench...the first third of the way up? the middle or the last little bit?
well for me it was that last little bit and getting it up and racked...I was almost getting it and then? fail..and it was pissing me off! so I got the advice that it was my triceps that needed to become stronger in order to get that bar all the way up..
also...I used to lay down on the bench all wrong...used to prop my feet up on the bench..or plop them down on the floor but I was not pushing thru my heels when I did it...
1. plant those feet and push thru your heels
2.tighten up your core and your butt when you do it
3. explode out of that lift with as much momentum and speed as you can do..this will get you most of the way up
4 work on tricep strength if you cant get it up all the way
5.when laying on the bench your shoulders are back and should feel like you could grip a tennis ball right in the middle of your back...if this makes any sense..
I dont have a spotting partner..I do this alone down in my basement so I dont ever try to max out on this lift..
45lbs in august to 105 x 3 last week..at the end of my chest routine..
not where I wanna be but..damn sure not where I used to be

I guess I should have read this first, glad to hear that it will come, lol. I made mention to B. that my arms are not nearly as powerful as my legs....loved the reply that was given back to me....`Well if your arms were carrying the same amount of weight `for as long as your legs have been, they would be pretty damn powerful as well...
Thank your for the pointers...I will put them to use

have paitence with your own body...this is a marathon not a sprint..
also just wanted to say...I like all this company in my journal..for a long time I was just writing in here
for myself...it is nice to have visitors.
the difference between me and some of the other journals would be...
1. I was 280-285 fat depressed housewife not very long ago...have a pic of this on my bodyspace which I cringe anytime I look at it..very few pics of me at that weight. I wouldnt allow any to be taken
2. I tried to figure all this sh*t out on my own...spent most of my younger years dieting and re-gaining the lbs.
3. I came on this site last summer as a newbie and had no idea what a cut was, what a bulk was, macros or what most of these lifts are called or how to do any of them..
I spend a lot of time reading, asking opinons and just trying this stuff...week after week and then keeping track of it all
I do not have all the answers...pretty sure I dont even know all the right questions
I am about as humble as they come so ....ask me anything you want to..I will answer it.
remeber that fat girl mentality? I have had it my whole life...still got a long way to go

when I was eating 2300 all winter..I was never hungry. I felt strong. I saw my lifts progress in all areas..
I liked it!
Now? its a friggin mental battle daily..telling myself you are not weaker...you just think you are because you are eating less...try anyhow..
here's the part that aggravates me the most..
what good is it to be strong as an ox..
