April 26th is the competition, how should I be training?

Well, I finally decided I want to compete and my first show will be April 26th, 2008 at the Fitness Atlantic in New Haven, CT

April is far away and I would think I have about 4-5 months to bulk as best I can and then start dieting down.

I recently started this routine

http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=1355861

I was planning to run it until I have to start dieting, any comments on it? I only ask because I am not sure how I should be lifting/training.

Any help guys? I'm around 190lbs right now, about 13-14% bf. I'm looking to put on a good 10lbs before cutting, but money is tight so the diet is tight as well.

I'll be watching this thread... as I'm also considering competing for the first time in April. Although I've done a LOT of reading over the years, this whole thing seems a little bit "over my head".

Forget "bulking" for 4-5 months. Start dieting now nice and slow. Now 'diet' does not mean starve, diet means knowing and controlling what you're eating. For your first show you need to start waaay ahead of time to allow for mistakes. You will make mistakes. Didn't look at your routine but I'd say just worry about getting is shape for now. There will be time for your routine later. Learn and enjoy. Good luck.

You can start by reading this http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/layne36.htm

Enjoy!

Well wouldn't getting into shape consist of a weight training routine? I know there is alot of work to be done with cardio/posing, I am starting some cardio this week and have been practicing posing alot.

Sorry, I interpreted 'routine' as 'posing routine' not 'lifting routine'. Of course you'll be lifting through out your prep up until a few days before your contest. Sry for the confusion.

sorry if I wasn't clearer lol.

I'm just trying to figure out how I should be lifting, I feel like I've been training really infrequent and unfortunetly its starting to show in my physique. I've always had a problem of staying on a certain lifting program for more than 2 weeks.
