If you just started, it should shoot up pretty quickly.
It took me less than 2 months to go from a 300-400 max.

As someone who bulked from 155 - 195 in a year, I'll just throw it out there that the stretch marks and joint pains aren't worth it. Take it slow.

Yeah, I'm really hoping I'll actually start to look big around the 200 mark.

Well it helps that i have really long arms, which is less range of motion. Having long arms is great for deads but it also hinders my bench. But to help grip you can buy grippers, or try to hold the weight for as long as you can at the top of your lift. But ya i do deads once a week and am always going up in weight. I also use double overhand until about 315 than i switch to mix grip. Hope this helps, if you have any more questions pm me.

How exactly does smolov jr work? Is it high frequency and high volume?
I'm down to 153 at the moment; doing 245x3 squat + 175x3 bench on Saturday, and 315x5 pull on Thursday. I want a 900ish total by the time I'm in the 148 range, so something like 270x5 squat, 190x5 bench, 350x5 dead is the goal. Hoping to blast through the 1k mark once I begin bulking back to 165 and beyond, though.

Arms not really short lol i wrestled so short arms would have sucked.. i do all three lifts. I just injured my knees in middle school and high school so i had to stop squatting and didnt do much DL either.. Recently got back into the sport last year. But right now im runnning a 5x5 program that im starting next week. Any other time i make my own workouts.
