Exclamation Power Belts for deadlifts

I have a Question about the power belts.
I was told by the owner of the gym that he uses a norm lift belt to do "normal" training and uses his power belt for the competition or max because it adds an extra little boost. is it true or is it best to only use the belt your training with vs switching belts? I have noticed that using the power belt there is more support and more abs involved, I did 300 5x5 deadlifts on friday using the normal thin belt and I noticed that I really had to grunt, I was also sick for 4 days missed my last deadlift day I was supposed to max this last friday but I'm knocked back 3 weeks. I may have been kinda weak yet? maybe some of our members here can clear this up.

Thumbs up to answer my own question

to answer my own question, I got my new belt, and did 315 5x5 deadlifts friday and my back is feeling really good. wide belts are better then the small skinny narrow ones, I bought a large that fits nice and tight. so to conclude my inquery is tighter, thicker, and wider the belt the better w/ less pain!
