I did my taxes, havent officially mailed them, but I got a lot less that I had predicted. I was eye balling a R700 tactical or something of that nature but honestly not looking to dip hard into my pocket book as well as burn my return so I guess im going with a plate carrier, as I need a rig for carrying mags and so fourth and I will more than likely pick up plates down the road.
-For an Ar15/Glock 19 package
-Preferably cheaper, I dont need some 1000 dollar setup because its got the operators choice brand on it. Wont go into fact it will more than likely not get used.
-No double stag pouches
-Needs to hold standard AR mags, standard glock mags, a dump pouch, maybe a misc pouch for a protein bar fake parking ticket pad or cell phone (hollar)
-Might wear in unison with a camel pack cause I get thirsty when im fighting
I am not police officer or military. I honestly know very little about this topic which is why im asking for help building one. I had the idea of buying it as id rather buy another gun, but push comes to shove if something were to go down id be running around with ar mags in my pockets and my pants are already uncomfortable as is. The reason I dont just go with a mag vest is im a pretty big proponent of leaving doors open. I can still use a plate carrier without plates, but if I go with a vest thats that (from what I understand)
why not just get a chest rig? honestly you dont need plates but if it makes you feel better if i were to buy armor id just get the standard soft armor for pistol rounds like the ones LEOs wear. the heavier you are, the slower you are, the more likely you are to get shot in a combat situation. IMO
but its just advice, i aiint no expert or nothin...but at da end of da day....you can do whatever the PHUCK you wanna do!

Well im 230 as is so slow is slow does. I dont see soft armor benefiting me much as I dont plan on being close enough to anyone. JUST GIVE ME DAM SUGGESTIONS
it depends what you are worried about stopping. Soft armor (IIIA) wont stop a damn thing out of a long barrel except (maybe) buckshot. If you are worried about any sort of rifle threat you will want to look into plates. Level 3 steel is the best price/defense combination. I'd avoid ceramic plates if at all possible as generally they are one hit and dispose
if you're looking for a good deal search around on the EE at ARF. i got a used plate carrier with side plates and no front/back plates on there for $200. now i can get my main plates for about $200 so i'll have $400 in the whole thing and have level III plates AND side plates. hard to beat IMO.
if shtf your probably gonna want to be low profile..just sayin

I want to run plates for sure if anything. I do not see any reason why I would be hit with pistol in the event I had to suit up and head out.

Are pretty much all plate carriers and pistol/mag pouches universally interchangeable?
Blackhawk is made in the USA however they're one of those companies that will not sell the public a lot of items even if they are perfectly legal for non LE/MIL to own. I woud vigorously boycott them just for that reason. I'm sure Mr. incompetent23 doesn't know that which was why he linked you right up. He seems to be very good at spouting off on things as if he were an expert when he only knows about 10-20% of the real story. He is probably the guy who comes into work with delusions of grandeur and big ideas to change the world and yet everyone else has to clean up his mess. He said he would just run 3A soft lol. Guess how much good that's gonna do ya against any common rifle round?

Agreed. 3A soft is going to be completely useless in a SHTF scenario. It's generally designed for cops wearing it 100% of duty time. Most special tactics officers all have quick access to an additional carrier with real plates

Generally yes. plate carriers are pretty universal in carrying 10x12 front and back. Some have provisions for side plates. Some you can even open the stitching up to make place for them. usually those are gonna be a specialty smaller size though and are generally going to be unnecessary. mag pouches are going to be setup for ar15 mags
As for sources there are plenty of websites that will not restrict sales to you simply because you are not LE//MIL. and Ebay has a huge selection too

Idk. I dont live in Chicago I live in the suburbs and outside of cook county which is the county Chicago is in. I believe cook county wants to separate from the rest of Illinois, and they account for a very large portion of the anti gun sentiments in this state.
To own a handgun in chicago you need to complete a course or something of that nature and I believe there are no shops in chicago so you have to go out of your way to buy one. There are some other restrictions as well I think. Typical government strategy where they allow something to be legal then restrict it to the brink of uselessness.
body armor isn't at all illegal for civilians unless you are a felon. The way it has tried to be restricted is through merchanting and draconian retail policies masked under the excuse of not knowing if the customer is a felon. With the corruption in chicago / crook county you can bet the probability of getting arrested for wearing it as a civilian certainly does exist even if it wouldn't stand up in court
