Right, and no one is arguing that he doesn't have the right to set limits for himrself and rules about how people can interact with him. We all have the right to control our personal space.
The question was more about should he be creeped out or whatever, and I was just saying that if all seemed to be in good fun and if nothing bad happened, why overanalyze or look for a problem? I mean, yes, it is the thing that totally makes gay guys go all confused when a straight guy seems to cross "our" line, but just as we don't want our every behavior to have to conform to some stereotype, we shouldn't do the same to others...

I love Dan Savage. I once say him and his partner and there kid at concert. The kid was killing me because he was in a Guns and Roses T-shirt. In front of them in the crowd there was the golden oldies which are like draq queens that are in there 70s. Reading the personals in the Stranger is great fun as well.
Seattle can be fun. The gay scene is not that strong. The only place that I have ever been that the gays shop at REI like the Lesbians. If you are bi or into less traditional venues Seattle is better than if you are really into Gay culture. Almost the entire City Counsel is gay which can be nice. There are some politics right now surrounding night clubs which is annoying but it will pass.
The job market can be good and bad depending on your Job skill.
Interestingly enough I never had a problem with the Crime. I generally stay away from South Seattle which is where the real crime is. I have passout in the street dozens of times (I used to be a horrible drunk) and never had one problem.

I know. I love it. From reading the posts all I can think is we are not in danger of them. Jesus, half those retards at worse would beat you up. Which isn't that bad really compared to if they were educated and in positions of power. Most of these wonders will flunk out of community college.
I am more scared by famous researchs like Bailey--(one of the leading researchers on biological aspects of sexuality)--who has his own views or the New surgeon general that i believe also believes homosexuality is a choice. These people scare me.

I know I should like him, but never been a Savage fan-I don't like David Sedaris or many other gay journalists/writers of the moment, either-so just chalk it up to cynical me...
The traffic & parking suck in Seattle-it's the main reason I don't head up there more. Portland getting the same, though.
So, I can't wear my GNR shirt when we have lunch??? Can I wear my Crue GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS shirt????

My assistant has just put out those delicious peanut butter candies in orange and black wrappers that are only available around Halloween. I can't stop devouring them. I already consumed half the jar prior to lunch.

I hear you, on the oil rig I work on, we have a pastry chef that is constantly putting out temptation. One thing he puts out that always has my mouth watering are these doughnut thingies that's long, and two pieces twisted together in a line with one of the 2 pieces being filled with blackberry and raspberry jelly and the other side being filled with cream cheese and a crystallized sugar coating on the outside that is friggin great.. have managed to avoid them for 4 hitches now, but I swear my resolve is tested every single time I see those babies put out!

I would have a big problem with that type of temptation. I am already getting a cup of coffee.

This just goes to show that humor is a very subtle, and personal, thing. I really wish I could laugh at David Sedaris' writing but I just don't. I guess I just don't get it. Back to Dan Savage, however: I read Savage Love every week. While not laugh-out-loud funny, I really like his take on kinks and other matters sexual. He's good at calling people on their hypocrisy and overall BS.

I just don't really care for Sedaris-it's hard to put my finger on, but I just don't find him that funny or talented. I used to actually really love his sister A LOT, but am so disappointed in her lately. Whenever I see Amy on Letterman now, she is striving so hard to be "pretty," and I just hate it. I liked her for being the antithesis to "pretty." I used to love it when she would take the "tour of her neighborhood" (leather bars, porn stores, all night delis, etc) to impress Dave, but sadly she doesn't seem to do that much anymore. And I don't know what the hell her & Colbert were thinking/doing with the "Strangers With Candy" movie, but, boy, what an AWFUL waste of time, money & talent.
As for Savage, I know I SHOULD like him more than I do coz I do appreciate that No BS approach. I think it's just more a "Me" thing because I really just don't enjoy reading a lot of sexual advice talk. I don't enjoy reading Annie Sprinkle or Susie Bright that much, either, though I do really admire them as people.

i was listening to one of his readings on a bus one day, and I was so embarrassed because I was laughing so hard I couldn't breathe! And I wasn't even reading, I just had my iPod on, so I looked like a total bus crazy laughing to himself.
Also, reading his books isn't much better, because unless you're alone you don't want to let yourself laugh as hard as you want to!

I think this is why I like him the most. It's not a "funny" column; it's a *good* column, a great one, where he analyzes and calls people out on their hang-ups, cultural impact on us, evolutionary pressures, etc.: It's not that he has no moral code or thinks that "everything's ok," it's just that we all have the freedom to make choices, and they can be stupid ones or informed ones, and we have to expect some bumpy rides as part of life. I really appreciate his take on things, and the podcast is even more fun.

I really wanted to like that movie because of who was in it and the very premise of it. But too often it just fell flat. Good for a chuckle here and there, but not what I had hoped.

I think you are being kind-I thought it was horrifically unfunny (and I am second to none in my admiration for the original series). I knew they were in trouble when Amy started doing promotion & the first thing out of her mouth was "I wasn't feeling good when we were making it"...

I'll have to download his podcasts....
I guess, because he's from a large Greek-American family, and so am I, I can really find a lot of humour in this life stories...

Glad Our 10% Is Being Represented
Statistically they say that 10% of the population is gay. Im good with that. Im hoping to pick up a few online friends for motivation. I aint gettin no younger! Presently, most guys can figure that I work out just from looking at me. I want more than that-- I want them to ignore the fact that I work out-- and want to say HI just because Im in the best shape of my life!
My screen name is the same here as pretty much all over the "gay sites" so Im easy to find. Compliments go a long way-- since Im using them to keep my motivation going.

Ms Adams Morgan
This weekend, I'ff off to D.C. for the annual Ms. Adams Morgan drag race. It is a hysterical party and event. Literally thousands of drag queens(not serious ones) race in high heels through the heart of D.C.'s gay village. Afterwards, there is a big party at the Capital Hilton. This year, the theme is "TV Land". My group of about 25 revelers is going as black and white tv's. The idea came of course from "Steel Magnolias" with the line 'too twisted for color tv' is uttered! One of our participants is serious about drag and he hosts G Lounge's(NYC) annual Halloween costume contest and he made and coordinated all of our costumes....which are over the top fabulous. Out of 25 guys, only four of us(myself included) are going as "boy tv's". My costume is actually as a tv repairman. I'm wearing a sleeveless white coverall, cap, and have a cute tool belt full of KY Jelly and condoms. On my back, the slogan reads "Servicing black and white tubes for 20 years".
I'm sure I'll have some funny stories on Monday!

LOL! Good one!
That actually sounds like a lot of fun!
Have great time!
I should be going as Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman or as Mrs. Peel from The Avengers (my fav classic tv series).
