But the surprise departure last month of Steve Nickerson, Warner Home Video's senior vice president for High-Definition, has raised speculation that the studio may be reconsidering its policy. Nickerson was an outspoken booster of the two-format approach in the high-def war.

The Times writes that "Hollywood insiders" say Warner is "mulling over a lucrative offer that could bring such popular titles as Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix into the HD DVD camp." The newspaper doesn't say, but the offer is presumably from Toshiba, the leading backer of the HD DVD format.

If Warner were to endorse HD DVD exclusively, it would follow similar exclusive endorsements last month from Paramount and DreamWorks. (Universal is also backing HD DVD exclusively while four major studios are supporting Blu-ray exclusively.)

This isn't surprising. It's been known for a while now that Warner Bros. has been very unhappy with how Sony has been working with them.

They've also released some titles exclusively on HD DVD (Matrix, etc.) so there's some weight behind this rumor.

I really want to but there's so many other great games coming out that I might wait and pick it up some other time. Between Halo, Mass Effect, PGR4, and Assassin's Creed funds will be low enough since I need to start Christmas shopping soon.

Hey aren't you guys looking forward to Half life two?

The game half life two + extra missions, better graphics and everything + team fortress two and more. It looks like a lot of fun. Check out the trailers. I think it might be a worthy competitor to cod4 and halo3 on xbox live. Besides, half life 2 was a great game. To get it with better graphics alone could just about justify the purchase, and you get a lot more

Yeah, I beat it on PC 3 years ago and it was incredible. I'll be looking forward to it and portal.

I bought NHL 2008 last night..it is hard

The new skate engine is way different and the computer is way wayyy smarter. PLus they learn the moves you do and learn how to stop it. Its pretty cool.

On 2007 i played the hardest difficulty and would maybe lose 2-4 games a season. in 2008 so far I am 5-3-0-1...its fun though

I can't stop playing the demo. And I LOVE the shootouts. You're right though, I have a tough time scoring. I can get some great one timers and break aways going but I always end up getting robbed by the goalie or it deflects off a post.

Yeah there are ALOT of shots hitting the post...
also its harder to deke the goalie compared to 07 in a game but Shoot outs are awesome!

Lol I know... I'm seriously astounded... its nothing short of terrible. Its just a bad strategy to release anything for this game. Advertise it as a fun co-op game and release nothing and some will buy. The minute they actually see this crap in action everyone will run for the hills guaranteed. Horrible, horrible game :O

If I'm not mistaken, the 360 outsold the PS2 in April 2006.

But this is certainly good news, and the number will likely get even bigger with Halo 3 this month.

Nope Assassins Creed will be the best game in 2007 and thgen in 08 it will be Grand Theft Auto 4.

But yeah Ninja Gaiden sounds great.

i have a feeling assassin's creed is going to suck even though it does seem like it could be cool. but there's no way it will have GOTY. that will either go to Halo 3, Call of Duty 4, Bioshock, or Mass Effect.
