How do you bench press?
According to Rippetoe you should keep your back tight and not extent your shoulder blades. However after trying this method, not only does it feel unnatural, i cant lift as much, it seems to put more stress on my shoulders and seems to work my triceps more than my chest. BUt im still willing to give it a try if it would help me get more weight in the long run(Ex. building muscles that are needed to lift that way). Maybe i need to read the book a little more closely, or get a more narrow grip, but so far it feels ackward.

Do what feels natural and maintains good form.

i dont keep my back tight...but i dont let my shoulders go way up either. I just hold my shoulders stationary, and i lift using my pecs. I feel that this is the best way in my opinion.

Anyway, keeping your shoulder blades retracted is vital and does take some getting used to.

oh maybe i did get their names mixed up, but that wouldnt make me a troll.
But whatever, im asking a question. I find it hard to believe that this is the proper way to bench but he seems to know what he is talking about.

No, not really.
People messing up their names and programs, particularly Rippetoe, is a very common occurence here. It is joke material.

Please use proper terminology:
When you squeeze your scapula together with middle trap fibers/rhomboids etc- RETRACTION
When you spread them/push them forward with serratus ant- PROTRACTION
Scapulae can also elevate, depress, rotate, but NOT extend- unless you are possible referring to "winging", a result of serratus paralysis (long thoracic nerve palsy)
This is a bodybuilding site for pete's sake. Let's make it sound like one.
Oh yeah, I always retract my scapulae hard during benching. Once you learn this technique, your bench will go up.
