light weight more reps?

mates,
some of my gym buddies say that if u want a defined chest or any body part then train with light weights and more reps..

is it true?

Not in the slightest. Definition comes from low bodyfat, not high reps.

And everybody is different so you could see better results from different workouts. It is trial and error to figure out what works.

Hmmmm....

I'm just going to say....

It seems like it might happen.

Light weights and high reps are going to cause a different aspect of the muscle to develop (the more endurance capable fibers, plus the energy producing components). This may convey a different appearance.

and if spot reduction is practical (it is possible), then this is how it would be done.

So...maybe

Smile Light weight high reps.

I teach a Body Sculpting class with lighter weights High reps. If you do it correctly and push your reps to not being able to lift one more time, of course it will work. Fatigue Baby! You do have to lower body fat to see all the beautiful muscles underneath. If you want to build big get on those Heavy weights with less reps.

In fact bodybuilding is just like a kind of religion. Lots of convictions, alleged truths, interdictions, dogmatical positions... with no real experiments !

Who can tell the real effects of doing *only* light/hi reps ?
And who can tell that what we work doing this would not rather be in fact a kind of cardio training, so that what you concretly do, is not done to the muscle itself directly, but to fat...
